Chicken is great!!! so is lamb, beef, pork, kangaroo and whole fish to name just a few ...
Yes, your dog can eat the bones - just feed quarters or really meaty legs rather than just wings and necks to avoid swallowing whole. RAW bones dissolve in the gut - this is what dogs are designed to eat - raw meat, edible bone and offal. Cooked bones cause problems - raw bones don't. Just make sure they are large enough for so dog needs to work at them. Make sure the bone is meaty for maximum teeth cleaning. The meat flosses the teeth and massages the gums while the bones scrape the teeth clean of plaque and tartar.
I hope the links help. The yahoo raw feeding or raw meaty bones groups are other great sources of support and information. And don't let the scaremongers put you off - millions of dogs and cats are fed a proper raw diet with many positive health benefits.

A raw diet for your poodle is a great way to keep your dog in good health. I would suggest that you do some research on the Internet,in your local library and even some of your pet food stores before you decide which way you want to go. It is always best to be armed with the most knowledge possible before starting out on a new regime. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats and they are all on a raw diet and are doing great, but I did do a lot of research before I finally gave myself in to the raw diet.
Good luck with your journey!

Raw chicken is perfectly fine for your dog as a treat or as a suppliment to their regular diet.
Raw chicken by it's self is not a complete daily diet. To feed your dog a raw diet, you would have to follow the BARF or Whole Prey model. This means feeding a variety of meats, organs, and bone in proper quantities. A properly fed raw diet is very healthy for your dog. My cat does very well on a raw diet.

YES! My shih tzu has been on Nature's Variety raw food since puppy hood! I buy it frozen at a local health food store. It's 4.99 for a 1lb bag. There are 16 medallions of raw meat, 1 oz. each in a bag. She eats 6 or 7 or 8 each day. Comes to about 2.50 a day to feed my dog real food.
Anything else is not real food. It's processed, preserved and junk. I have the full support and blessing of her vet.
My neighbors Italian Greyhound has also been on raw food since puppy hood.
It's expensive but worth every red cent.
They eat less, have better nutrition, their feces are small and in about two days turn into a white powder and disintegrate and their overall health is much better than the 99% of dogs fed a processed diet.
Go to your nearest health food store as many sell raw diets for dogs or go to their website www.naturesvariety.com
You can also have some raw diets, they are all frozen, shipped to you on dry ice.
I've seen a few dogs with major skin issues who were switched to raw diet and the skin issue were gone in one month and never came back. Same with dogs with GI issues. Dogs don't eat corn and grains, it bloats them, makes their bodies work ten times harder than it should, decreases overall health and all you do is pay for junk and hype advertising.
Good Luck

ughh. I've worked for vets and none of them ever supported raw diets. But they have pulled bones out of dogs throats! in my opinion it's a bad idea. the argument that "in the wild" your dog would eat raw meat might sound like it makes sense, but your dog is not a wild animal, and since you mentioned your dog is a poodle, we know your dogs parents and parents parents were probaly not wild either. Your pet is pretty far removed from wolves. His digestive system has changed just like the rest of of him has changed. Besides the wild wolf is eating mostly fresh kills, not stuff thats processed and packed and shipped and sits on a supermarket shelf. That meat you buy in the store is not meant to be consumed raw by anyone. dogs can definatly get food borne illnesses!

It would be excellent for your dog if you make sure your dog has a balanced raw diet, or the raw chicken is a treat fed separately from her regular meal. Here's a raw feeding site I used in the past:
http://www.rawdogranch.com
Since one of my dogs had a history of pancreatitis before I started the raw diet, I ground her raw meaty bones.
If your dog "gulps" her food, then you may want to grind the raw meaty bones too.

It is fine to give your dog raw chicken provided it is fresh.
That isn't all they need though, so unless you are just using it as a treat you need to research how to do a proper raw diet.

Raw chicken is fine as long its not chicken bones because chicken bones splinter and get easily stuck. Lamb neck bones are fine also but only RAW. I wouldn't feed my pets Kangaroo meat as it causes Kidney failure in cats.

nooooooo not raw! ur dog can get very sick from raw meat and especially chicken because of salmonella. Never give a dog chicken bones, they can choke on it or it can get stuck in there intestines....
