Here is the father of Stella for whom spoke my friend Ipek!
As Leonarda said, in Greek, the name Stella comes from the male name Silianos=Stelios...and the female is Stiliani=Stella.
But in my language (Greek) it doesn't mean anything. In Latin It means "STAR". Because of this I call sometimes my daughter " asteri mou" = "my star"!

I don't understand what you mean. Names don't change between languages, and you have the correct spelling of what Stella would be in the greek alphabet. There is not really a way to translate names. You find names in other languages that are just like their english counterparts but morphed over time to fit the language they've become a part of.

Stella means STAR in English and it comes from Latin.
As far as I know, ASTRA is the word in Greek for the word "star". I may be mistaken since I am not Greek.
