I know Global warming is real and that more people than not believe in global warming in United States. Then why isn't anything happening. I mean, we are the American people. We are very willful. If we know something is going wrong, we jump to that issue and find ways to solve it, then what's wrong. Is it the government process that's failing us or what? I don't get it because i live in philly and a lot of people i see around me are going green. Some people here are taking quite a lot of actions actions.
Please think critically before answering this question. skeptics, please share me your view point too, but don't just say" Global warming is not real", give me reassoning. I really appreciate it.

Process of making laws is just too complicated. People are changing light bulbs, buying hybrid cars, going green, etc, but it is our government that is failing us. Our house and senate members are run by lobbyist who fund their campaigns, etc. And those rich lobbyist are often from big oil companies, coal companies, car companies, etc. Our government should make laws not allowing our representatives to accept funds and money. I hope this answers your question about where we're going wrong.

I believe we are at the starting of an ice age if you do some research with an OPEN mind set then you will see that at the beginning of ice ages that the actually goes up temp how else do you get enough moisture in the air to dump the amount of snow and ice required? I am not a scientist but i do my own thinking and this does make sense to me and don't really care if it does to you or not

This is something that I've often thought about and it seems to boil down to politics more than anything else. More specifically, a lack of political willpower to take action.

One major difference in the way that the global warming is treated in the US compared to the rest of the world is the politicisation of the issue. Outside the US, politicians haven't tried to influence people's decision making and instead have let people make up their own minds.

The Bush Administration seems to have adopted the attitude that US citizens are incapable of thinking for themselves and need to be told what to think.

Excepting principalities and dependencies, the US was the last country where the government acknowledged global warming to be a problem. Bush's recent change of stance having been closely modelled on that of Australian Prime-minister John Howard (the penultimate country to accept GW). Rather than be a world leader, the US has put itself in last place and now has a lot of catching up to do.

The countries that accepted GW early are now world leaders in improved technology, it's no surprise that the Europeans and Japanese are struggling to keep up with world demand for their manufactured goods, whilst at the same time the US continues to suffer. This is perhaps most noticeable in the motor vehicle industry. Bush's reluctance to act has dealt a huge economic blow to the US.

The British led the way on climate change and first acted in 1988, quickly followed by other countries around the world. Bush continued to remain isolated on the world stage and even after his change of stance he still remains isolated as the only major political leader not pushing for immediate action. Perhaps the fact that he doesn't have much longer in office is the reason for his lack of acion, preferring instead to let someone else carry the can.

As for why the Administration dragged their heels for so long, perhaps it's because of the involvement in politics of major industries including the power and oil giants. I can't remember the name of the person but Bush's main advisor on climate change used to work for Exxon Mobil and since leaving the Whitehouse has once returned to the oil industry - probably not the best person to appoint as an advisor on climate change.

Don't think whatever you learn and handiest a million/two of what you notice. Of direction, Global warming is truly. The final Ice age has long past away, has it no longer? So, we have to have international warming. Do folks give a contribution to international warming? Probably a few small quantity, in the end we ARE Warm and we breath in oxygen and breath out CO2, we have to be side of the concern. What is Al Gore going to do approximately it? Kill a complete lot of folks? Invariably that's what Socialists do once they take manage of a nation. Is that bigger than destroying their economic system and inflicting hundreds of thousands to starve to demise?

If people haven't realized that global warming is real then they are, to be frank, moronic. We drive cars that burn fossil fuels, they are then released into the atmosphere, thus destorying our ozone layer. This then allows sunlight to enter into the Earth's atmosphere, but not to leave, thus creating a greenhouse effect. The rising temperatures are slowly melting the polar ice caps, which can eventually lead to massive flooding.

Most everyone is aware of the reality of global warming, it just isn't directly affecting them NOW, so they don't worry about it. They choose to not look into the future and worry about the people that will live in it.

My take on it? If you have the money, buy a hybrid car, they require less gas and are very environmentally friendly. If you're dedicated, help with the little things that everyone else does (don't litter, recycle, plant trees, etc.).

Some States are doing some stuff.

"Republican governors team up against global warming"

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Republican_Governors_team_up_against_Global_0716.html

It's hard for two reasons. The propaganda campaign to deny it is strong.

"Global Warming Deniers: A Well Funded Machine"

And the Federal government won't do anything right now. That will change on January 20, 2009.

Well, it may be wise to remember that during WWII it took Japan attacking Pearl Harbor to bring the USA into action. Before then, the USA stood by and watched, sending material aid, but staying out of it.

Also, perhaps, USA citizens are getting more and more involved in themselves, and what brings pleasure, or rather, what does not cause pain.

Also, I think many people, do to being able to choose to ignore global warming by changing the channel, may not deeply understand that the time to act is now. That the time of prevention is almost over. Soon we will be in crisis and trying to fix a sickness that is well advanced.

If you really look a statistics like smoking and how many people don't stop even though they know about cancer .... are we really any different?

So, raise your voice, but judge not. Keep working hard toward "clean and green"!

nobody is doing anything because it's a lie. another false prediction.

here are some of the predictions i grew up with over the past 40 years:

famine
mass death
shifting of food production regions
climate change
overpopulation
global cooling
mass starvation
massive glaciers
uninhabitable places on earth
running out of fossil fuel
pollution physically altering man (through adaptation)

all this was supposed to happen by the year 2000, and if man didn't stop using fossil fuels. we had 30+ years of "irrefutable data" showing that man caused it too.

but we didn't stop. instead, we used more!

STRANGELY, NOT ONE PREDICTION HAS CAME TRUE YET!

with this kind of track record, how can anyone seriously "believe" global warming?

there not sure if global warming is real or not because they dont know how the earth reacts through hundreds of years. some scientists think that this is something the earth does & then has a cool down with a ice age. but nobody knows because we dont have any research before ice ages. etc, im not saying we should wait to have an ice age cause obviously that would be bad. & also whether or not global warming is real we should be taking care of our earth anyway!

global warming is a natural cycle that the earth has gone through for millions of years. Cooling and warming, cooling and warming. Man made global warming is a big hoax, man has no effect. Other planets are warming up in our solar system as well
