Alex, all this while I've only had bosses who let me take the blame.

I wouldn't shield nor throw them to the wolves but let them stand on the merit of their own good work. I would however; work to keep my employees happy because happy employees are productive employees.

I would shield my employees when I felt the situation called for it... and when I find that they deserve to be eaten I would throw them to the wolves.

shield them cause I have been tossed a bunch of times and it sucks so don't want to do that to others. Besides in every case that boss got what they deserved. Big believer in Karma

I think a good boss should stand up for his/her employees if they have done a good job. I would definitely not want to work for a boss who didn't support me.

I would shield them because loyalty is very important to me. Also, if I put the blame on them, I would still look incompetant because I'm the one who's supposed to be managing them & making sure they do the job right.

I would, I have been thrown to the wolves a couple times and didn't like it all.
Too many times. employees are treated horrible.
Some are too afraid and concerned about keeping their job to say anything.

A good leader spreads the credit for a job well done, and takes the blame when goals aren't met.

You work for someone else? If so, then if it comes to your job or theirs, cover your A#SS, and your boss will do the same all the way up the food chain. Be naive if you want, but I'd want that paycheck.

Whos kidding whom here? most bosses do everything they can to cover their own ***. Unusual for people to care about anything but the old mighty dollar that goes in their pocket.
