Yes, it is a blood-death cult.
They worship the blood of a dead men, Jesus.
Also, they use threats of hell damnation if you do not join this cult of blood.
It is very creepy!

Here is a simple test to tell if a group is a cult or not. Ask yourself these questions about the group:
1) Does the group use tricks, lies or excuses to get members and to keep them?
2) Does the group say that it is "better than all other groups", and is it organised so that people can't complain, discuss, vote, criticize, or change the group?
3) Does the group claim that the founder knows all the answers, and tolerates no discussion or questioning of his or her teachings?
4) Does the group say that nothing is more important than to get more money, people or anything else into the group, and that this is more important than honesty or friendship or families, maybe because it is such an emergency that the world must be saved right away?
5) Is the money collected used only a few "special people instead of for the members or the general population?
If you answered "yes" to all these questions, then the group is definitely a cult.
Christianity in GENERAL does not fit this definition although there are some Christian-based groups that do.

There are certain characteristic that define a cult:
1) A cult claims to be the only way to God, and you will be punished by God if you do not follow the cult.
2) A cult teaches you not to questions its doctrines and you are expected to blindly do and believe anything it says.
3) A cult has some form of brainwashing to force you to believe certain forms of twisted logic, as per George Orwell's concept of "Doublethink."
4) A cult worships God instead of loving Him.
5) A cult is often made of extreme, fanatical followers that will do absurd things in the name of the cult.
6) Followers of the cult fear believing anything else because of the ensuing punishment.
These traits of a cult are verifiable if you research them--the most prominent ones will usually have these characteristics. So by this defintion, yes, Christianity would be considered a cult.

IT WAS a cult until it became the dominant religion of Rome under the Emperor Constantine. Had he lost to his rival it still would be a cult and the Roman empire may have lasted longer.
I always wondered if Christianity had anything to do with Rome's decline also along with the other well known reasons.
so yes very. The pretend to sacrifice the flesh of jesus with wafers, sounds a bit cannibalistic to me. chant incantations which they call pray which could easily be spell casting to some or rambling to others while making sense to yet some too.
All Major Religions today were once a cult. Pagans ruled the world for centuries under gods like Zeus, Odin, Gaia, Rha and many others. these gods were worshiped much longer than our gods of today are which is why i think it says to give to homage to any other god but him because he knows there are others!!
So sure i think its is just one large cult, but it is a dominant one so its label has changed to Main stream like it or not. that is the way it is when it has that many followers.
IMO

It is a cult. The word cult is normally used to refer to something evil or a gathering full of maignant intent, but, really, it's just a religious gathering for the purpose of worship. Religion, I feel, is called religion because it is recognized by the government. Cults can have a positive or negative message. It has nothing to do with being mainstream- it's gathering for a religious purpose.

I think the term cult is thrown around too much and that it doesnt have much meaning anymore when using it against religion.
If I were not religious and heard the concepts and foundations of christianity then my first response would probably be, are you people completely insane.
That is what I love about mormon bashers that like to bash on the foundation of the mormon church. Have you people actually looked at the foundations of christianity? They seem just as crazy if you dont have that faith and testimony of its truth. How any christian can bash mormons for its history when christian history is just as crazy sounding is beyond me.

Something does not have to be out of the mainstream to be considered a cult. A cult demands blind following and does not allow questioning of its leaders. It practices brainwashing.
All fear and dogma-based religions have the elements of a cult. American politics is even becoming cultlike.
I wouldn't generalize, though. There are liberal Christian sects that encourage people to think and come to their own conclusions.

I've heard this said. A cult becomes a religion when it has power. It is a successful cult. I also think acceptance makes a cult a religion.
