If something is not going your way, is it a sign from the universe to stop doing whatever you're doing... or is it a challenge to learn to overcome your obstacles? I can never differ these two. There have been times when I gave up, due to obstacles and later regretted. Sometimes I tried hard to get/do something, it ended up being something bad for me? How to tell the different when to surrender and when to continue trying.

The Difference is that if you know that you can keep going no matter what you are feeling at that moment. Or you definitely know that you reached the limit.

When you find out, lemme know, because I struggle with a lot of the same issues....(written with a wry smile)

Surrender is a deeply spiritual topic. We have this notion that its a bad thing, when it truth it simply means gleaning the humility to say "I'm in over my head - I need help with this - or at least I'm going to be smart enough to gather my self together before I try again"

Try asking someone more in tune with your situation for help - what they think....someone who has been through a bunch of bad situations in life and came out the other side a better person.

If you get a chance - go by a bookstore and skim through the book "the spirituality of imperfection" - it has some great chapters on humility, acceptance, surrender....its written about alcoholism so I tell most folks to ignore the first five chapters - anyone else who has "been through the wringer" will certainly appreciate it (in fact, it was a buddhist monk that told me about it in a interview I was doing for a school paper.....and I've told lots of people about it since....

Good Luck - it really is a common issue for folks to struggle with - you are not alone.

continue by trying! giving up just because you find some obstacle is not the way to succeed. no one can get what they want unless they try very hard and over come the obstacles that lies in front of them. it is also the only way to grow stronger.
if you had every thing you want just like that, life would be too easy.....

QuantumHealer, that is a task that we all struggle with. It is a very difficult task to discern the difference between healthy opposition and a nudge in the right direction. I guess the best way to find out is to ask yourself, "what will the fruit of my labor be?". If it is something good, then continue to struggle. If it is something immoral or bad for you, then perhaps you should regard the forces as directional.

And please remember, just because you regret something, does not mean it was a good thing. It just means you wanted it, and we want things that are both good and bad for us sometimes.

Peace

You have to know exactly what you want and then go for it, no matter what gets in your way. If something isn't going your way, keep trying different things until it works. You can't defy the laws of nature, but that doesn't mean you can't find a way to make things work. Illustration: Thomas Edison failed at making a working lightbulb over 10,000 times, but because he tried a bunch of different things, he finally found a way to make one that works, and he became extremely successful becasue of it. Use his example. Good luck!!!

I have a situation in my life right now where there may not be a good outcome no matter what I do or don't do. All I can do is pray and trust that no matter what, God will be with me.

All I can suggest is prayer.

Surrender the situation to God and let Him turn it to His glory or lead you into a new direction. Let it be His will.

I try to resolve that before I try. If its the right thing to do, I keep at it. If, before I started, I had doubts then I am quick to abandon it. I map the activity to my moral code - my sense of right and wrong - and I consider if it is a net benefit to the world in general. Sounds loftier than it is really but that's the general approach.

Example: I'm trying to befriend someone but the keep canceling meetings, etc. I ask myself whether I have something to offer that person, or, I suppose, they have something to offer me at no cost to themselves - if so its worth pursuing. If instead, I just, for example, find them attractive, then I back off - not meant to be.

Very, yet very, good question. i do no longer declare to have the respond, the defenitive one, via fact I too locate myself asking this. i will in basic terms say what my adventure has been. The activities of existence, the significant ones, those that made for some important and lasting substitute have ensue, i does no longer say 'of themselves' interior the experience that they form of 'fell all of the sudden', yet via my finding myself interior the particular place and condition. No 'forcing'' of any form became needed for that; of direction, i became nevertheless left to be certain the thank you to proceed, even nevertheless it rather is unlike once you're chasing something new, getting in basic terms slammed doorways on your face each and every time. The ice broken, you're left with the project of the thank you to navigate. in basic terms sadness, if no longer harm, observed persisting the place instinct stated in any different case. i do no longer mean now that this would desire to be grew to become into an excuse for inertia: in basic terms sitting doing no longer something, blaming the universe for it. If the universe factors the way, supplies tricks - as I even have reason to hold that it does - it could in basic terms gain this while you're open to it. If now it rather is argued - and right that's the prospect - that even this comparable state of being inactive is 'the will of the universe', you're no longer lots in a 'vicious circle' as caught to a ingredient, motionless, immovable. to offer up skill to be loose provided that the renounce is entire. i might do my superb to offer up and not save on attempting, yet this too isn't trouble-free. it is going to additionally be extra difficult, if something, if the urge to maintain attempting is impossible to resist, which it always is. right here i think that i'd desire to ingredient out each and every of the extra that that's in basic terms out of my adventure and per danger reflects, has something to do with, the degree of existence one is at; your self and others may well be at another the place 'continuing to attempt' would pay off. i do no longer understand.

If it seems that things are not going my way in something I am trying to accomplish, it tells me that I am on the right track. Otherwise, why would the "dark forces" be trying to stop me? Therefore, I persevere and turn the situation over to God.
