A couple of hours ago I was bitten by a dog (German Shepard). I had to do something because we'd already ran the dog off twice for chasing the kids at this gathering. it came back and was chasing a little girl who was running and screaming and crying her mother was doing nothing so I ran out and grabbed the dog so that he wouldn't bite her or knock her down. He smelled my food in my opposite hand and tried to jump at me. I tried to lead it away from the children but when he failed to leave them alone and follow me out of our yard I grabbed him from behind the little girl again and thats when he latched onto my arm. I have 2 large and 2 medium sized puncture wounds as well as multiple scrapes. the two larger wounds have just stopped bleeding. The ownder's were not at home (or just wouldn't answer the door). The car in the yard had rims on it but no tag and there was no name on the mailbox. Should I take pictures, see a Dr., go back to their house? What?

You do need to have the wounds treated. Although becoming more rare rabies are still possible from dog bites. If the owner's car is any indication of their financial situation, you probably won't get very far suing them. The best bet would be to call animal control and file a complaint for the dog at large and vicious animal. Then their will be a criminal trial and the dog will probably be put down. If you have any medical bills from this, the owners may have to pay that as restitution.

Document the wounds caused by the bite of the dog by requesting a doctor to issue a medical certificate. Report the incident to the Police Headquarters and have it blottered. File a case against the owner of the dog so that appropriate investigation will be conducted.

I would go to the police and tell them where that person lived. 2nd i would go to the doctors to get those wounds check because there could be potential scarring. Finally in most dog biting cases go to a attorney and sue the owners of the dog for medical bills and pain and suffering. Estimate you can get is $50.000

I dont know for sure but i have seen alot of court tv. You would want witnesses, go to the doctor and have him check it out so you have proof you were bit. Take pictures of the bite. Ask around and see if the dog has attacked anyone else or anyones pet. And get them to tell there similar story for you in court. Call the police and report it for further proof and animal control as soon as possible.

In some states you may not have any rights and how do you prove who's dog it is. See a personal injury attorney but take pictures now and call animal control, Rabbis are an issue if they have no proof of shoot. Plaese see a DR.

Please go to the doctor right away!! You would need to do that to have a case anyways. The doctor has to report it and they will go after the dog and quarantee it if it didn't have shots. The best thing would have been to have just gathered the kids up and called authorities to come and get the dog but not to try to take it on by yourself.

GO TO A DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY, just in case of anything. Plus, you will want to call the police department (non-emergency or crime stop).
