Would just a sprinkle do? Why get wet all over? Even Jesus, when he and John and his half-cousin Bob got baptized they just waded out to their ankles, and that was good enough for them. Replies from Bible scholars appreciated.

head first would mean being baptized upside down so the head would reach the water first. Do you mean immersion of the whole body? I think that's how Jesus was baptized after He waded into the water. Who is Bob? I prefer to be baptized as Jesus was but water was scarce in some places and sprinkling was done, so that is just fine, too.

Why not a sprinkle? Can't you picture John the Baptist, standing in water somewhere in the desert (Mark 1:4), with throngs of people on the shore (we already have a logistical problem there with baptizing the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem at once anyway)? Shouting at the top of his lungs, "Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" -- reaching back and arcing water at the crowds. What a beautiful sight...absolutely, just a sprinkle will do.

How about adding... Is it really necessary to baptized at all?

Baptism is a silly ritual and in some religions it's almost an abuse to children and infants - it darn near stamps their little underdeveloped and defenseless minds with a tattoo.

Baptism is one of the first steps to brainwashing - a head first plunge seems like a logical approach for someone whose aim is to lay claim to a victim.

DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)

Jesus wasn't as naughty as we are. and all the naughty thoughts we have, are all in our heads, and then that controls the rest of us, so we have to wash out those naught thoughts.
