Absolutely. Repentance requires a desire to not sin again. If you continue to commit the same sin over and over again, then you must not be that sorry.

As a Christian, I accept that I will sin until my dying day because I realize that I'm imperfect and will continue to learn until I die. The thing about accepting Jesus as your savior is that you can find redemption. But you must be aware of your actions and repent for them. Repenting doesn't mean saying that your sorry and going about your business, it means turning around and going in a different direction. Please don't see me as standing on a soap box, I am a repeating sinner. It's up to me to change the things that are wrong in my life but it can be difficult because you have to let go of what you know and make a change. Change is hard but not impossible. This said, I pray that I live a long life so that I can get all the bugs worked out. Either way though, I believe that my God is a forgiving God and will see the good in me as I believe he sees the good in all who are willing to put it forth.

No. Again, salvation is not dependent on anything I do or don't do, it is all a work of God. If you are chosen out for salvation, you will be saved, and nothing can separate you from the salvation or the grace of God. The work of Christ on the cross forgave all the sins of the believers, all of them. There is a difference between committing sins and living a sinful lifestyle. In the first case, as we mature in Christ, our desire to please our flesh will diminish as God changes our desires, we will seek to please Him. In the second case, if someone says they are a believer, but steadfastly continues to live a sinful lifestyle, without caring or conviction, one would have to question whether they were ever truly indwelt with the Spirit.

Actually, dear Jack, a person WON'T continue to sin if they sincerely accept Jesus. There is quite a phenomenon in that God makes us a new creature in Christ. Old things pass away and we are completely new! We don't WANT to sin when we belong to Him!
We still make mistakes and ask Him to forgive us, but the sins we were in before we were His, we turn away from.
God bless you!

Once you receive the Lord you can not loose your salvation unless you want to by renouncing your belief. Jesus knows we are going to sin but we need to continually turn to Him and ask for the washing of our sins through His blood. The more we are with the Lord the easier it is not to sin it says " walk by the Spirit and you shall by no means for fill the lust of the flesh"

Heb 10:26 For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but [there is] a certain fearful expectation of judgment and [there is] a fiery jealousy that is going to consume those in opposition.
(This is not the everyday imperfections we all have, this is willfully practicing sin.)

Yes, if a person continues in sin, then that person never knew Jesus in the first place. Part of the forgivness process is to repent. This means to turn from sin and walk the other direction. I think 1 John 3 covers this subject pretty well.
Sin and the Child of God
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
The Imperative of Love
10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother[c] abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
We must practice righteousness. A person cannot practice righteousness and practice lawlessness at the same time.

The devoted christian is aware of his sins and always vigilant to confront them. his struggle is not over though. As peter noted "what I want to do, I do not. But what I do not want to do, that I do." He is weak and does sin. and prays for forgiveness and reads the bible to "Renew his Mind".
He is looking for the wisdom and power to resist temptation.
Most of us are not tempted to do many sins, because we have the wisdom and and insight to demonstrate the folly of it. Wisdom and insight that came from the Holy Spirit. We hold tight to it, because without it, we would struggle too.
but maturity does not happen in the blink of an eye. Nor does it happen after a single prayer. it is the result of a long walk with GOD, Christ and the Holy spirit.
Christ died to forgive your sins past and present and future, but it is only for those who are truly his. and this is demonstrated by the walk. Do not be like the Pharisee who said thank-you lord that I am not one of these. Be as the poor man who sought forgiveness for his wretched condition.
GOD promised to complete the work he has begun in you.

I believe ones salvation is threaten because God does expect a change in our behavior. We can't say we are God's people and still acting like a devil.
Luke, chapter 13
"1": There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
"2": And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
"3": I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

No, we still have salvation. We can not live without sinning. That is why we need Jesus, to pay the debt that we rightfully owe, but through His love and mercy, He has paid it for us.
