Dogs can go without water overnight and they might even feel better if they don't have to hold a full bladder until morning. They will adjust by drinking more during the day.
Besides, they don't like it either if they are confined with a puppy who pees in the bed next to them.
It would be different if it were really hot or if they have been exercising a great deal but, under normal conditions, for healthy adults it shouldn't be a problem and it will help your puppy.

No, it isn't cruel. I take the water bowl away at about 11 p.m., let them out for the last time, and they just go to sleep after that. They get water first thing in the morning, but neither of them drinks it till later in the morning, after they've had some food. So, I know they're not thirsty.

It's not cruel.. It's better to take up the water at night, and get a hold on that housetraining. You don't want him drinking like a fool and peeing all night long. It will undo all the housetraining work you have done so far..
It's not like he isn't getting sufficient water thru the day ... and it's not going to be forever.. It's best to take up the water after a drink before bed.. He's fine til morning. How many dogs really get up thru the night and get a drink?? Ours sleep right thru the night. Don't bother getting up for a drink til early morning. It's not cruel and people who tell you it is, obiviously don't crate train their dogs, cause you wouldn't put water in the crate at night for a dog....

probably ok as long as it's just over night and they get access to water first thing in the morning. I have a 13 mo. old German Shepherd, and I always leave the toilet seat up for him at night...I hear him take a big drink almost every night around 4 or 5am though, but I imagine if he had to wait, he'd have to wait! But he also uses a dog door, so if he needs to go potty (which he usually does after his big drink!) he can and does. I wouldn't stress about it...it's only a few hours.

If it is only for a limited amount of time it should be fine. My dog never drinks after her "bedtime" even with water available. If you think about it, a lot of us humans go a whole night without drinking. Just make sure they get an adequate chance to drink in the morning. You seem like a good pet parent so use your best judgement!

No its not cruel. It would be more cruel to leave them with a bowl full of water and not expect them to have to outside all night, especially the puppy.
I take my dogs water up a couple hours before bed.

No it is not cruel my dog sleeps in my bedroom at night and she does fine. I have put her water bowl in my bedroom before for a couple of nights and she did not touch it. For the puppy make sure to watch if he gets water before bed then take him outside to go potty

a taste of midnight water for each dog is alright. the elders know the amount they can handle. the young one will learn, the elders will teach by example. take the learning one outside to pee a couple of times each night. puppy shall learn by example through the routine, when you one night only take him out only one time during the night , then not till early morn. do unto the older dogs as you train the puppy, the grown-ups don't need the training, but they should be involved as teachers.

Yeah I would say it is fine as long as it is just overnight and then give them water first thing in the morning. It would be like you going to bed without water. You can do it just fine, but a glass in the morning might be a good thing and then take them out for a bathroom break.
