I love tasers. I can tell you that since he have gotten tasers, we have deloyed them twice in which the officer would have used deadly force, no doubt about it. And many other times when the officer would have technically been justified in deadly force.
Tasers are used a lot and sorry to say, there have been deaths. But they can always be attributed to a pre-existing condition or drug use. But like I said, they are used a lot, and for every death or injury, there has been 10,000 cases where the taser has been used in training or to subdue someone without negative reactions.
They aren't a wonder weapon that is approparate in every situation and restraint and common sense should be used when deploying the weapon. But they are good at what they do and without a doubt, have saved lives.

If used properly, the tazer can be a very effective tool in law enforcement. I would rather see a law enforcement officer grab for a tazer than grab a baton. Having said that, if the situation calls for a baton (tazer cannot be used to apply pain control holds and the like), then by all means use a baton. It sucks that tazers cost so much money, or maybe all law enforcement agencies and even security could use them.

I'd like to see them go back to carrying service revolvers. Say something along the line of a .45 cal.. People think getting tazed will bring them celebrity status. It's a joke. Yep, bring back something that will definitely have them thinking twice.

Ive yet to hear of a tazer traveling through walls and killing kids. Ive yet to hear of a missed tazer shot hurting someone else. So if some jerk decides to give the cops a reason to use a tazer on them, I dont feel bad about the 50k volts for 5 seconds that scum will receive. Maybe they will learn, maybe not.

No, it is not. I proceed to exist a ranch, now and returned our 'associates' cows get out and are available our backyard (that's fenced off from our herd) and we merely call them and that they arrive wrangle them returned. additionally now and returned out on the line there will be an escaped bull or cow and the police will come and connect the vendors in herding the animal returned to their sources. The police will watch the line, with their lights on so coming near vehicles will see whats happening. The final time i became using while this became happening it became a extensive bull and that they've been springing up on the different edge of the line from me, so myslef and the vehicles in the back of me, merely pulled over to the edge of the line and stopped to enable them to get by way of without spooking the bull greater. This guy desires to reprimanded.

Seems to me that it beats the heck outta being shot with a bullet. Keeps the cop safe and the other guy (or gal) alive. Seems like a win - win situation to me.

Yeah, I think that all cops should carry tasers. It will discourage them from using the real guns.

I think that a majority of the police are out of control. I think citizens must work with politicians for police reform. I think someone should study if we could eliminate them all / restructure / bring in privatized security that is more service oriented. Cops have too much of a sense of entitlement and have forgotten who they work for and why. I think that you almost have to eliminate / outsource them to accomplish change in the longer term. Better laws / will help bandaid the problems in the short term. In the longer term, I think we must look at our laws, some need to be tougher and others need to be dropped. We have more people in prison than any other country ? Yet we think we are a civilized country ?

I agree, cops need to use more non-lethal options. For every taser death or serious injury there are a dozen acidental shootings. (not a stat, just my impression)

I think it's gay. (not to disparage gays, but "gay" as in weak).
Tasers are just too Orwellian, and symbolize the computerized police state subduing the individual.
Get rid of them.
Cops have body armor, guns, work in teams, have backup, and can probably physically take down anyone without firing a shot. And use their guns on criminals who use guns.
