There are several options you can try.
First of all, if you are interested in wine with low alcohol level, you can look at the percentage of alcohol on the wine bottle labels. The labels always tells you how much alcohol in the wine, and average wine is about 12-14%. The higher, the stronger. Secondly, if you don't like the alcohol taste and smell, one trick is to keep the wine cold. Warmer wines tend to have more alcohol evaporating, so you can taste the alcohol more. On th other hand, a chilled wine tends to tatse less alcohol. As long as you don't forget that the alcohol is still there, that is a neat little trick. Either way, most people drink their wines too hot anyway.
As for the type of alcohol, I would recommend a white wine like Sauvignon Blanc to start. Sauvignon Blanc is one of my favorite wines to introduce to a non-drinker, because it is indeed fruity and less alcohol. It is relatively inexpensive, does not have the flavor that most people don't like (tannin/bitter, acidic, oaky, etc), and it is readily available at supermarket and wine stores. I would suggest to start out with something cheaper, like Chateau St. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc ($14), Napa Cellar ($15), Chateau Souverin ($14), Dry Creek Fume Blanc ($14). Personal favorite include Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc ($16) and Caymus Conundrum ($25) and Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc ($20).
If you opt for a red, try Pinot Noir. The problem is that I used to call Pinot Noir "watered down Merlot", because they are light, less flavorful, and not very complex. Well, at least the cheaper ones; the more expensive ones ($40 and above) are much better. Pinot is light body, low tannin, and fruity red wine, fun to drink, and pair well with all sort of food. Personal favorite include Hartfort Court ($40-80), Shea ($40-60), Siduri ($25-60), Willakenzie ($30-50), and Penner Ashe ($40-60). A cheaper alternative would be Artesa ($25) and Saintbury ($25-40), but I would not recommend anything other than these 2 cheaper brands if you really want to learn about Pinot Noir.
As for other types of wine, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio tend to be too dry and would need some times to get used to. Red wine such as Merlot and Cabernet are too tannin for your liking at this point. You can try dessert wines such as Ice Wines and Sauturnes, which are very sweet and goes well with dessert, but I am not sure if you want to drink that with your dinner. As for Arbor Mist, that is really not a wine but more like wine cooler. If you really want to learn about wine and try "good" wines, avoid Arbor Mist or Sangrias.
Good luck.

J has some great suggestions and information, wine drinking/enjoyment is really down to personal taste, if you can visit bottle shops or wineries that offer free tastings that way you can try a variety of wines without spending money on wine you may not like.
When i first started drinking wine i found white the best place to start was light fruity styles eg/ sauvignon blanc, semillon sauvignon blanc and classic dry white (not sure if you get that where you are as not a grape variety)
Even sweeter styles may be a good starting place, there is a wine to suit all tastes so hang in there as it can take some for you're palate to develop, but soon you should find that you enjoy a wider variety of styles .
Good luck

I would recommend Arbor Mist. It doesn't have the bite of wine it is really fruity and comes in a lot of flavors. We like the blackberry but there is several others that are good the peach is good. Its content of alcohol content is very low. It is a great sipper. I think you would really enjoy it.

You could try Arbor Mist. They have a lot of fruity flavors but I personally would select a nice Pinot Grigio.

I love the arbor mist melon flavor
If you want a REAL wine with a fruity flavor, my favorite is Gewurztramanier. Fetzer makes it and it's like 10 bucks. There are other brands who make it as well but it's soooo sweet and so delicious! TRUST ME!
