no. if you have an open court case you may not enlist. you'd have to close the case by arranging to pay the back child support. what you get trained on depends on your ASVAB line scores and what you qualify for.

You'll have to talk to a recruiter. The recruiter can probably help you get a "waiver" to allow you to come in with this type of felony. The Army is desperate and are allowing a lot of waivers. An article about 3 months ago came out that over 10% of current recruits are coming in with waivers.

The recruiter is motivated to get you in, so go in and talk to one and if he can make it happen, he'll show you how. There is currently a recruitment incentive that gives you more cash if you are willing to enlist and ship out fast.

Maybe he can help with your lawyer and the judge by showing that you are looking for good employment with the Army so that you can pay your back support.

Wait... PROBABLY have a felony soon? You mean you don't have it yet? Go now to the child support enforcement office and tell them you want to work with them to make your payments. Tell them you don't want a felony because you want to join the military. They will be overjoyed that you want to try to make your payments. They will be even happier that you are joining the military because they will be able to attach your wages. Your state child support office gets state & federal funding based on how much they collect, not how many people they put in jail. Do whatever you can to avoid getting a felony charge. The enforcement officer in your child support office has the ability to make deals if you cooperate.

You'd join the Army to avoid paying child support? Or you'd join so you can afford the kids you have? I think if you join before it hits your records, it'll be okay. You should learn to omit such things from your recruiter and other people that may ask. Just a thought, you should learn to NOT give up all your information and at least try to fix the problem before going in.

NO, you can be a felon...what a fuzzy thought, but not have a felony for child support..................This rule may have changed since they are desperate, so check with your recruiter. Oh and here's a thought, pay your dam child support.

you can if you lie about it but when they find out you'll get dishonorable discharge. you can't be in the military with any felony because if you have a felony on your record you can't bear arms which is a requirement in the military. hope that helps.

Ask a recruiter. If the recruiter won't try to get you in, then you're outta luck.

And not having to be infantry... that's kinda what's most needed right now..., but ask your friendly neighborhood recruiter and see what you might be able to do.
