I have been with a man for going on 10 years and love him very much...he has never been an emotionaly supportive guy. and i have always thaught when we were younger that it was ok, but now we are dealing with more adult life issues and thaught he would be muture enough to realize when i needed this kind of support. any tips on how to get him to be on sort of the same level of emotion?

Simply be honest and tell him. Explain to him with out mass emotions that you need more support from him in dealing with life issues.

Expect some guff and be prepared to possible see the relationship hit hard times or even end.

But the fact is you should not have to live this life alone because someone does not have the capacity to be supportive of you. And right now it sounds like you are living this life alone with a long term room mate.
