About ten years ago while visiting a church a friend and I attended sunday school the priest came to talk to the group as he went to sit down the chair broke and he fell right out of the chair to the floor. Being in highschool at the time, my friend and I thought this was very funny, and laughed. The priest became very mad turned red in the face and started yelling we were going to hell.

I find it ironic that the priest did not use the cause of the collapse of the chair to talk about what life in general is all about...the ups and downs of life...even for those of the faith...even while attending church! He could have talked about how he may have had too much "potluck" at the parish dinner, or have to cut back on the sweets that are given to him by loving parishioners. He should have used the incident to encourage you but instead used his worldly ways to condemn you.

I also see how such an incident can cause someone to lose faith in not only in the priesthood but with the faith of having yourself serve the Lord Christ. If you, as a teenager, so long ago, saw this incident and the behavior of the "man of the cloth", well I am sure it would give you doubts on what his calling was in the first place. And now, 10 YEARS LATER, you still think upon such a time back in your own history. The priest may have looked upon your laughter at him as to look upon the "head of the church" and you were all "laughing at God" and he felt insulted that you youngsters would do such a thing to him, a "Father of the Church of Christ".

This is pure conjecture on my part but at least it is an open question that any one can answer. May God Bless you and your walk with God.

I'm a muslim and I doesn't like priest much but this priest sounds ok.At least he didn't get up and smiling back at you two and says oh the chair was old anyway, what is your name anyway?can you tell your friend to go and meet you tomorrow because I need you to sort some books in the library at the back of this church. It happens to Cher the singer, told in her biography at the age of 14yo.And she decided to become a singer after that incident, seems she found out that she can really hit the high notes after all, well some people seem to have all the lucks.

he was probably 1) in pain physically and 2) in pain mentally - embarassment. while he was a bit over the top - you didn't show Christian charity or even help him up. you were rude, arrogant and selfish. i hope you're never in that type of situation -- pain to the tailbone is NOT a laughing matter.

this is odd.... people are assuming you mean a Catholic priest but i don't see how this can be the case since, as a general rule of thumb, high school aged students are to BE AT MASS - not some Sunday School which is generally for those who are not yet in 2nd grade.

He sounds very mean. While I would take it with a grain of salt considering the source, a lot of people would really believe because he is a priest and a representative of an "infallible" enity, he was very irresponsible in what he said. Being a former Catholic, I know for sure that we really believe in those priests. What an ignorant jerk. However, from what we've heard about *some* priests, it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully I don't need to elaborate on that.

clergymen are meant to make human beings enthusiastic approximately faith because of fact they're. My uncle is a pastor and he does the same concern, he makes my cousins and aunt pray at each meal and thrice an afternoon, even earlier they start college (they dwelling house college their toddlers to furnish them a "perfect non secular training"). I visited them this summer season for 2 months and all that praying drove me nuts. for the reason that their existence is so committed to God they want others to be too. I agree nonetheless, going to Mass daily is in basic terms a splash overboard. Ya understand, little, like the size of Mount Everest.

he probably got hurt---that is not funny to anybody at that time but, the going to hell thing might have been a little much but, I can sure see where he would of had a little leeway with the reaction stuff.
