Basketball hits me right between the eyes. Are you over thinking basketball? There's nothing wrong with trying out for the team, but does it get in the way of your concentration?
I'm sure you already know if you do make the team, you're going to put a lot of time into practice, playing games and the rides back and forth from the games. You probably have already done the math on the hours it will take.
You're already "under the gun" to get 4 A's and 2 B's by your next report card. Don't you think all things combined puts just a little pressure on you?
You're going to have to figure out what your real goal is here.
It's comes down to either the 4 A's and 2 B's or basketball.
I know that would sidetrack me with all that's going on. But I get sidetracked with most things I do, to say nothing of the concentration because of my ADD. So I really have to give lots of thought about what comes next or did I do that already.
Too much pressure puts you at not enough concentration and getting off track. Wanting to make the team is pressure. With the basketball pressure everything else gets lost in the shuffle.
The desk you work on has nothing to do with anything. It's all
the other things.
When I finally make up my mind to take just one thing off my list of things to do, I can finally breath again and feel my whole body relax. But then that's me. I have to pick and choose to better manage my life with less stress.
Go with what you think is right. That's your decision. What ever you choose or don't choose .... good luck to you.

Organize your work. Make a list of what you need to do. Perhaps you already have your assignments listed in your planner. If you don't have a planner, get one.
Make sure that the supplies you need to do your work are all assembled near your work table so you don't have to interrupt yourself to get them.
Get yourself a countdown timer that will ring after a certain number of minutes that you set.
Look at your list of tasks and assign an amount of time to each task. Break the tasks down and assign them time limits.
So you have ten English problems (I thought problems were in math and I dk what an English problem is--but you do and that's all that matters). Decide how many minutes you will allow yourself for a problem. Say that is five minutes. Set the timer. Get to work. If the timer goes off before you finish, then decide how much more time to give yourself and reset the timer. If you have your work divided up into small time segments like this you will catch yourself more quickly if you get off task. You will notice if you have not been working when the timer rings.
Also, make sure that there are no distractions around you. Your house is filled with things to keep you busy. You could stay busy for the rest of your life without doing any homework, SO, be sure that you keep all those things from interfering. Keep the TV, radio, ipod, cell phone, computer etc turned OFF. Make sure your study table is in a quiet place and that your family knows when your study time is so they can avoid bothering you. Close the door. Put a "Study Time Please Do Not Disturb" sign on the door if necessary.

The obvious answer would be to remove all of the distractions. On the plus side, with the AP, you'll be much better off in the long run.
The best thing to do would be to schedule your time. And I know you're saying "That's a stupid idea!" Thats what I said, then all my AP classes suddenly fell into place (AP US History and Composition/Language).
Figure out when stuff is due, then just do a little bit at a time. DO NOT do everything the day the thing is due, or on Sunday night. With PreCalc you will literally lose your mind. Just meter your time so that you get your work done and still have TV/Computer/Basketball time.
So, I hope you can get your stuff sorted out. Good luck!

I have the same problem as you! Too my surprise I found that i work worse in my bedroom alone were everything is silent. I get my best focus downstairs in the dinningroom where I can hear people talking and some sort of noise but not seeing the tv or anything. Becuase if i try too hard to focus n something my brain just wanders off and I cant. Go figure i know but ever since I have been doing this i have been completing all my homework with ease.

Well first off, do you get 8hrs of sleep everyday. If you get the right amount of sleep, that itself should increase your focus. Also eating right, will help with concentration. I heard, that if you drink lots of water, that helps increase your brian focus. Try excersing a bit too. Try having setting aside a few minutes to rest your mind for a while. If you go on working for hours without rest in between, you will tired out your brain and lose focus. Try listening to soft music aswell, that might work.
Hoped i helped.

Think of it this manner - you probably have a bodily chore like to scrub the residence, might you play upbeat or a laugh track to support you get encouraged? You will also be senseless in washing dishes or vacuuming and maybe use the track as distraction. Would you wish this variety of mind undertaking at the same time studying or finding out? For me, I uncover whole silence the great technique to research and awareness on retention and being equipped to examine the matters I am finding out to be trained. You would possibly wish to appear into unmarried tasking in research in a quiet, calm atmosphere.

lol dude, i'm in 8th grade... i can give you some clues if you want... but idk if they'll help for you
first off you have to draw an 8 but side ways... like the infinity sign
that stimulates your brain...
so when you get side tracked... just trace over and over that 8 but sideways... cause, that's working both sides of your brain
if that doesn't work... then you can get up and take one arm at a time and swing it across your body then the other one.
that also stimulates your brain.
if that doesn't work... then you get can some peach freshener.
that stimulates your brain also just spray a little bit in your room when you're about to do your home work
before you do your home work eat a banna... to give you potasuim. (however you spell that)
dude, that's about it... other than that.. just want to do it.
cause, if you don't want to do it than it's not going to make you want to do it... lol make sence?
So try to like find something that intrest you in that class and then... you'll prob. focus more.
well, i hoped that helped :D
