ummm try to scan ur pc with the antivirus (i use avg free edition),
then the antispyware (i use search and destroy),
then empaty the recycle bin,
and try :)

if you can't maybe just the cd is defective or just u need to clean it (i use teeth cream, yep im serious ;D )

it ever works!

or maybe is just a hardware or driver problem

EASY FIX. Get a paperclip and unwind it . Usually on the front of the CD Drive there is a tiny little hole that you probably think is a little light...but it's a little hole. Put the paperclip into that little hole until you feel some resistence. Press....and voila, your CD tray will open.

Likely our CD is set a little wonky in the tray. If your CD does not come out with the tray, then you'll need to open the box up and find your CD resting inside.

GOOD LUCK!

clean it

warm water with a little dish soap and dry with SOFT paper towel

then see if will read it

if not do this
========
see if this works
-----------------------------
START BUTTON
MY COMPUTER
CONTROL PANEL
SYSTEM
HARDWARE tab
DEVICE MANAGER
ACTION
SCAN FOR NEW HARDWARE CHANGES
or
right click on the appropriate device (EX -- HARD DRIVES, SOUND VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLERS. )
-------------------------------------------
if not u likely need a new drive
but keep in mine clean these directories
-------
start up in safe mode (F8)
go into the following folders and delete all the contents including folders in there

open windows explorer

kill everything in them, spare NONE !
-----------------

- delete all files and folders in this directory (NOT THE DIRECTORY ITSELF!)
C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp\*.*

-----------------
- delete all files and folders in this directory ! (NOT THE DIRECTORY ITSELF!)
C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\*.*

-----------------

look for suspicious programs or something dont look right in here
- then delete that particular file/s and/or folders in this directory or uninstall it with Add and Remove programs ! (NOT THE DIRECTORY ITSELF!)
c:\program files\*.*

-----------------

- scan and view anything that looks odd (maybe delete (NOT THE DIRECTORY ITSELF!))
C:\windows\temp\*.*

and then empty RECYCLE BIN

After that scan for virus and spyware if u have the program/s.
-----------------
Then restart in normal startup and see if this continues.
If it does then I strongly and urgently request you to reinstall your Operating System and your drivers etc...

you have possibly been hit by a virus that has affected the performance of your hardware and/or software
-----------------
Then when u get connected to the net

download
http://firefox.com and use this instead of Internet Explorer

check this out! I am a Firefox user and find it safer and faster

CD drive may be broken, or cables may have come loose. Has anybody been inside the box?
