You're kidding, right?

First it was the land of Caanan. Then the Israelites came in over 3000 years ago and took over and named the country Israel.

Then the Assyrians, Babylonians, Romans, and MUCH later, the Muslims invaded it.

Israel and Judaism existed thousands of years before Islam did and before Muslims invaded Israel.

What you see now is the Jewish land of Israel, taken back by the Jews from those who invaded it (Romans, Muslims, etc.).

Be very careful about listening to anyone who says it is a Palestinian country taken over by the Jews.

Israel was called Palestine by the ROMANS when the Romans invaded it. There was never a country on its own running itself, called Palestine. There was never a Palestinian ruler, king or queen, there was never any Palestinian currency, there was never a Palestinian flag, and there was never a people called the "Palestinians". When Rome invaded and called the area Palestine, it was under ROMAN rule and everyone there, both Jew and Arab, were called Palestinians because of that. The Arab population was very, very small, and many Jews were still there - the entire tribe of Judah, much of the tribe of Benjamin, and some from the tribe of Dan, and others, stayed behind. There has been a continuous Jewish presence in Israel since the Israelites took it from the Caananites over 3000 years ago.

The people now calling themselves "Palestinians" are the children and grandchildren of Lebanese, Syrian, and Jordanians who came into the area less than a century ago. It is not their land. The name "Palestinian" was created by Yassir Arafat in 1967 to use these people as media tools to gain worldwide sympathy for them, and in this way overthrow Israel and take it back for the Muslims. Before 1967 nobody, either in the Middle East or anywhere else, ever heard of "Palestinians". They do not exist.

Hope this helps clear things up for you a bit.

Israel is a Hebrew country. Jewish. Although there are many Christians there. Actually there has been a considerable amount of animosity between Catholics and Israel over the years.

It's Jewish, but the Catholic church has a lot of sites there, most of the places where Jesus was supposed to have lived and walked and died
I'm not sure how accurate those are

I know He lived in Nazareth and died and rose again at the hill of Golgotha and the tomb but not sure if the places that are built there are accurate
