Is that legal? The person added to my card wasn't even a family member, but a friend of the family. A couple years ago he co-signed on a car loan for me, but I'd had the credit card a couple years before that. How can the credit card company just add someone's name to my account without authorization on my part and without having the addee sign a document as well? How can that be legal? Any steps I should take other than getting the name taken off the card?

It's not legal - call the credit card company immediately! Not sure how it got linked - but in this day and age not unusual.

Fix it NOW

Call the credit card company and get is straightened out.
Do this at once--or you may end up with a large credit card bill.
I might even go to the police with this problem.

It's not th credit card company. It's the bank that issued the card. Talk to the bank.

I suspect the person who's name was added is the culprit.

No this is not legal and you need to fix it now before that person makes charges on it. Otherwise, you could be held liable. It could take ages to fix if that happens.
