My job requires a degree. I couldn't sit for the board exams and be licensed to practice if I didn't have one. I make more then I ever did before I had one. It just depends on what your degree is in, mine is an AAS in Respiratory Therapy. I went to school with a girl who had a bachelor degree in communication who makes a lot more as a respiratory therapist and a girl who graduated from Julliard in New York but couldn't make any money in music so she became a therapist too. There is such a thing as hard college and easy college, math and science fields are the hard college (engineering, architecture, nursing, computer science, etc) and liberal arts is considered the easy college (teaching, social work, history, communications, psychology, art etc). I know no college is easy it's just the way it is.

Some degrees are highly useful and some are not.
I am currently teaching college level computer courses for a place that sets the exam for me....so often the information is useless. Learn lots of categories for things that don't apply to the real world.
But some of the practical subjects are...well practical.
I studied Psychology as well as computing. Most of my psychology wasn't relevant to real world psychology, but my first job was in a university doing research and everything I leant was highly useful.
The other example is computer graduates and networking. Most have no idea despite learning about it at university. Usually in a networking job we have to train them up on networking. Why, because they people who teach the networking courses are not networking people, and learnt networking at university, from books written by people who learnt about networking from people who learnt about networking from books.
But the moral of my rambling is that some of it is the good stuff and some of it is useless, and some you will never use because of the job you choose and some will get you the job you really want and some of it will be out of date after a few years.

Ok so I have a BA in Psychology, and honestly I love learning about personalities and how to relate to people, but I couldn't stand hearing everyone's concerns or problems ALL THE TIME, so I used my Psych degree to get me into business and now I'm a Marketing Coordinator! It has helped me a great deal! Psychology is so open ended, that you can get a job in pretty much any feild that doesn't require math! LOL!

not at all! I have two undergraduate degrees, Health care Management and Accounting/Finance and just completed my MBA however I have a very entry level position. Remember the slogan from the 80's "Be cool, stay in school", well I made more money without any degrees! Oh well guess that is life. Or at least mine!
