Because they have received false information about Catholicism from their church and are either too ignorant or lazy to independently research such claims or too brainwashed to change their minds when presented with evidence that contradicts such claims.

BTW- I'm not a Catholic, but have noticed that when I point out these claims are false, they still believe what has been hammered into them.

well I used to be catholic, And Like the new Popes cousin I left the catholic church about 33 yrs ago. ( have a news paper article on it if you want it) To become a real christian, I now serve Jesus Christ & his Father Jehovah God The pope congragulates us for "doing the work they should be doing"

If you only knew what the catholic church does & how it leads men to their destruction, you would understand, their religion only slightly resembles what the Bible teaches for instance look at this in your own catholic bible.

(Matthew 23:8-10) . . .But YOU, do not YOU be called Rabbi, for one is YOUR teacher, whereas all YOU are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone YOUR father on earth, for one is YOUR Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for YOUR Leader is one, the Christ. . .

Jesus said to call no one your spiritual father nor to have a clergy class. That all real christians are brothers, he set the pattern by washing the feet of his followers.

They do it to all Christians on here. Sometimes I wonder how anybody who is old enough and smart enough to use a computer can be as ignorant as some people pretend to be.

Who else but satan wants to tear down the Catholic Church?
Remember, Jesus promised Peter the keys to the kingdom.
"The gates of Hell shall not prevail against it!"

All Christian churches have flaws, because we are all human...if there are Catholic traditions that make life more structured for Catholic Christians, and perhaps make things a bit more legalistic, that is for Catholics to discern for themselves based on scripture. I believe there are many good Catholic Christians that do believe in Christ above all and put their trust and faith in Him and the Holy Spirit is working in their lives, sanctifying them to become better believers. I believe this is true for the other denominations as well.

I personally know some things about the Catholic teachings that disturb me, and are not found in scripture. I do not have a Bible with the Apocrypha and do not have the knowledge or experience personally, in order to say one way or the other if the apocrypha truly should ever be included with the Holy Bible, but they were not in the original Hebrew and Greek documents, and this is as good a sign as any for me at this time.

There are parts of Catholic dogma that are problematic and I have heard different things from different sources, but here goes...

Transubstantiation
-wine and bread turning into the actual physical blood and flesh of Christ to wash away our sins. I believe God has the power to do so, but that this is not how scripture was intended to be interpreted. Christ died once for all. Communion was to be done in remembrance of Him.

Baptism at birth-
baptism is done from a willing, and understanding acceptance of Christ...a baby cannot understand and cannot choose. They are innocent until they can.

Worship of Mary-
no one should pray to or ask intercession from Mary when Christ is our Savior and Lord...we pray to Him directly. He intercedes for us. God is Omnipresent and Omniscient.

Confession to a priest-
Christ is High priest according to the order of Melchizedek. We pray to Him. We confess to Him.

Penance-
We can not do anything to earn salvation, penance does not save us, and we can never repay God's grace...it is a free gift to all by faith, not works.

Praying to Saints-
Same as answer of confession to preists

Carrying talismans for protection...charms of the saints-
This is superstition and borders on idolatry...God does not need a talisman to protect us, and use of some thing made by man in expectation that it can help us...it denies the Omnipotence of God in that a thing made by man is needed for God to act in our lives.

Indulgences-
paying money in order to sin later...this is just one of the most obvious examples of corruption the Roman Catholic church had against it from my perspective. I do not know if indulgences are still offered or not...I hope not.

Purgatory-
the existence of and the ability to buy loved ones out of it or at the very least give them a lighter sentence within it are also extremely corrupt practices not based in scripture.

Reliquary items-Pictures of the Pope...etc
(aside from the Ark of the Covenant) it is also bordering on idolatry...giving a place of honor to blessed items...made by man, or even pieces of former saints bodies, when Sinead O'connor tore a picture of the Pope in protest over child molestation...Catholics destroyed her cd's and basically ruined her career at the time. It is placing an enormously overzealous value upon earthly items.

Mass -re-crucifction of Christ-
Christ died once for all, He is not re-crucified each week during mass. On the cross He said, "It is accomplished." End of story. He accomplished defeating sin and death, once for all time. Now we have faith in Him and we are saved by grace.

Salvation through works-
We can show faith by our works, and faith without works is dead as it says in the Bible...but we cannot do anything to earn or deserve salvation.

If these things that Catholics are supposed to believe are not really what they believe or practice then, there is no issue. I certainly would like to know, and am willing to keep an open mind. If these things "are" practiced...and believed as stated...I would go to scripture and perhaps talk with your priest to see what His understanding truly is...it is always good to know what the people who teach you truly believe as well, and to know the reason for the belief.

I will however not compromise my faith in Christ, as I believe good Catholics will not do either...so as Christians, it is most important that we share the Gospel and worry about taking the log out of our own eyes, before removing the speck in our brother's eye.

Take Care and God Bless!

People will always hate what is good and true (and not easy). I wouldn't let it bother you too much, just keep the prayers going for them. :)
