I'm a diabetic who had a MRSA infection in my left foot. The doctor wanted to do amputation below the knee. I questioned having to loose the whole leg for a foot infection. He replied with"you snip snip here and you snip snip there and you're still going to lose the leg" that was 7 years ago. I still have the leg and most of my left foot minus the toes. I saved myself because I didn't let his being a doctor stop me from exploring my options. It still amazes me how many heatlhcare professionals still act like their opinions and judgements are the final word. What happened to the partnership between doctors and patients I've heard so much about?
