People gravitate to other people who share their opinions and much of what is going on at YA are OPINIONS. I have noticed that if you ask an opinion question like, do you have a name for my pet or what is the breed or should I breed my dog, you will get a raft of answers. If you ask a technical question or a question about a specific product you are liable to get far fewer answers.
Opinions are easy, facts are more difficult.
It is just human nature at its most basic. Oh, by the way, I am entitled to my opinion and you are also entitled to my opinion.
That is a joke.
P.S. You cannot participate on anonymous internet forums if you have a thin skin or take things too seriously. People write things on the net that they would never, ever say in person.

I don't take much of what happens here personally. Your question didn't offend me. If it offended anyone else, they need to chill out. It was a good question and as a legitimate a question as any other.
As for this question. I think I answer my questions the same way, every time. My Q&A are public. You can read them yourself and decide. I don't think I play favorites with questions or with answers. I really don't pay that much attention to who asks a question.
My only difference is my sarcasm on occasion but I already answered you about that.
Are there rude people here - Oh yeah! Sometimes it's warranted I think when it comes to some questions. I've lost my temper a couple of times. I try not to, but I have. I try VERY hard to be diplomatic in my answers. I think people tend to listen (or read) more if you aren't calling them names or insulting them.
I'm not perfect. I do my best.
As for the judgements. This is an imperfect forum. Electronic communication is flawed. Things come across as terse and blunt and many people can't communicate well in writting. It BREEDS (ha ha ha) miscommunication. That happens often - with all of us.
All I know is you do your best, you don't let things bother you and you ignore the people that are rude or insulting. It's not worth fighting about.
Just my opinion.
EDIT:
I started a daily dog poll. Would you believe I have complaints about the questions? It's a riot. Don't participate if you don't like the question!!!

I didn't answer your previous question...but I read some of the answers and I think pretty much everyone summed up what I would say in that when you've been on here for a while, you get to know others by their answers and invite them to be one of your contacts. When one of your contacts ask a question, you will receive an email letting you know one of your contacts asked a question. You will also see on your profile the questions starred by your contacts. These are questions they want their contacts to see and hopefully answer too. I will usually answer these questions as well because they are asked or starred by one of my contacts. I've been on here for a while and have many contacts...all of them are people who answer questions in the same way I would and have the same feelings about certain things as I do. I feel as though they are my friends and I do back them up whenever I can. I do answer questions a little differently with them because I feel as though we all sort of know each other and we have fun together. Some questions are a little on the sarcastic side and the answers go along with it...sort of poking fun. But, it really is harmless. I think all the people who come to the dog section a lot all love dogs and want the best for them. Since we all have this in common, we stick together.

What I do is I read the question and I give my opinion and then I go on and answer other questions that I feel like answering. There are people that think they are better then others on Yahoo answers and I have answered questions and asked questions and People on here do make quick judgements and If you say that you have a dog that is mixed the first thing that happens is the thumbs go down.

I have no contacts and only one fan lol so my answer would be I answer the questions that interest me or I have an answer to , when asking a question I pick the the answer I feel helps me the most , I never look at tags and such when answering or picking best answer. I do though have a big problem with people who post questions or answers with so many spelling errors that it is almost impossible to read so if I have a bias it would be people that don't use spell check or don't re read their posts = P, I probably annoy people because I never punctuate lol

Speaking only for myself - I wasn't offended by your earlier question!
I suppose that sometimes my answers are different depending on my "association" with the asker. I put "association" in quotation marks because in reality I know NOBODY on this site PERSONALLY.
This comes from having some idea as to where that person is coming from. There are people in my contacts list who I know A LITTLE about. You can also gauge a little about their online personality if you are familiar with their questions and answers. Where I can, I'll try to tailor an answer to the asker.
However, I try to be as understanding as I can with people, whether I "know" them or not.
There has been a lot of criticism of people asking questions on here about certain topics. Personally, I welcome ANY question as long as it's asked genuinely, from somebody who is open enough to accept an answer they might not like.
I do try to see the best in people, although I must admit there are times when I see questions from people whose dogs are suffering because of their negligence - those people don't get polite responses from me. I'm not trying to alienate them, but instead shock them into realising that (e.g.) they should take their dog to the vet.
*****************************************
ADD: Happyfeet - the asker is referring specifically to the "dogs" section of this site. That's why the question was posted here.
ADD2: Koehler - great answer!

Quite honsetly, I frequently don't even notice WHO the asker is because I'm so focused on the question. Sometimes my contacts will e-mail me about an answer, and I'll have to go back and look at the question, and then finally put 2 & 2 together...So maybe if I actually realized who it was asking, I'd word my answer differently, but maybe not. I really don't pay attention to the asker's ID.

I don't know anyone on Answers, so I answer the questions to the best of my ability regardless of who they are. If I see someone else giving bad advice, I will give my two cents in my own answer posting, but I don't email the original contributor and bash them for their advice. I do see a particular person answering many of the same questions I answer, and if I think she gave a good answer, I give her a thumbs up. It has nothing to do with that contributor, but just means I think the answer she gave was right on target. She's knowledgeable in the subject matter of dogs, so I tend to agree with a lot of her comments. But it's not a thumbs up just because I see she is the one who answered.
I do hate to see jerks make nasty comments that have nothing to do with the topic. I've seen people answer a question with "none of your business" ... how rude. I think if people don't like the question, they should just move on ... there are plenty more out there.
Hope that helps answer your question. :-)

I don't pull my punches with my mother (who is a sweet woman but completely dog clueless). I'm certainly not going to be less blunt with someone who I only know in a passing sort of way on YA!.
