I'm looking for an inexpensive location to hold my wedding reception. The date will me August 9th, 2008. I'm expecting between 250 and 300 people. I know, that's a LOT. I don't want to blow my budget, but I don't want to have my wedding in a dump. Can anyone help me find an interesting, inexpensive location to have my reception?
Thanks in advance.

I hate to burst your bubble, but a 300 person wedding is not going to be cheap. The average wedding costs about $30,000. Rather then having your wedding at a location you won't be happy with, just cut some guests. Do you really have 300 close friends and family? The best way to think when trimming a guest list is to ask yourself if you would pay to see that person, since that's what you're essentially going to be doing.

What I would suggest is that you start looking for places that can hold that many people and go from there. I'd suggest hotels, banquet facilities, etc.

Do you have access to fairgrounds that have an area you could have it? (I don't know what part of SD you're in)
Wish I had more info for you.
