I need some advice to make a pirate costume by using things that I have at home. Any ideas? Its for a dress up party and the dress code well is... Pirate. Unusal dress up party.

Get old jeans and cut them below the knee with a jagged edge... a blouse/shirt will poufy sleeves, or cut them off, bandana from the dollar store for a head scarf and an eye patch (dollar store too).... stick a fake parrot (dollar store ...wow, I say that a lot) on your shoulder and use eyebrow pencil to 'black out' a couple of teeth..... and say Arrgghh alot.... have fun

If you have any old black pants, cut them off at just below the knee and roll them up once. Wear some black socks that go up past your knees with black shoes. You can wear a red bandanna on your head. If you don't have one, they're really cheap. Wear a really loose white shirt and a black vest. Also, check the Halloween aisles at any stores you frequent and see if you can pick up a sword and an eye patch.

Goodwill is your friend.
Red, black, and white are always good pirate colors. Stripes are good as well. Rip things up. Miss-match. Wear gaudy gold jewelry. :)
