They are abnormally fast growing cells that take over. Yes, the environment does influence the occurrence of it by bringing in toxic poisons that go into the air, water and soil and eventually into us by breathing, eating and drinking. Some areas are worse than others. Some people move because of this. I think it would be difficult to avoid all possibility of exposure, and some of it is naturally in the environment and we are just going to have it around us. Some people will be more affected by it than others. We each have our weak areas.

To explain what cancer is, I can't. All I know is that it attacks in many different ways and forms.

Environment could possibly have something to do with it, lifestyle, both or none. Much of it isn't and hasn't been explained.

There are cancers that are blamed on smoking, second hand smoke, asbestos and so forth but, where it actually originates is unknown to the public.

It's just like this question. Where does Leukemia originate from and why does it like children more than adults?

Yes environment can cause cancer, a good example is asbestos exposure that may cause mesothelioma cancer. Once you're exposed to asbestos it may take 20 -40 years before you show any symptoms...
