I've read a lot of arguments on yahoo answers concerning belief in the bible and religion, but that's not what true Christianity is about. What it's really about is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It's an intimate relationship and that's the most important thing to me. We all have a need to share that intimate part of ourselves with someone, but find that no one truly understands us, or can betray our trust. It's that part of myself that I only share with God, nobody knows my true self, not even my husband. Only God, who hears our most private and intimate thoughts. Converting to Christ, is about asking Jesus to come into your heart, to be your personal friend and Savior. "Behold! I stand at the door (your heart) and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him/her, and she/he with me. (Revelation 3:20). You can quote me!

Good question.. You and I both know what it's like to have a personal relationship with Christ. And its hard to explane it to a nonbeliever. It doesn't just go to Atheist's, it goes to people who think they are going to heaven because they belong to a certain church. Or just because they are a good person. <><

This appears to be well and good, but is it?
To have a "relationship" with someone or something that you have no real experience with is an illusion.
It is the successful floating of a complete fantasy that you can share with others that have it too.
Perfectly intelligent people have this illusion and "share" it with others.
It makes them feel like they were told that they had just won the lottery.
But that does not make it real.
Does it?
This world is not really made better by such fantasies.

Everybody does not understand.........now. God is not calling everyone to their salvation at this time, and in this age. But they will when Jesus Christ returns. Right now.......God is working out His plan in dealing with humanity over a 7,000-year period. For the first 6,000 years, God is allowing humanity to experiment with various forms of religion, education, government and culture. Through spiritual emptiness and physical and emotional agony, humanity is now writing the lesson in human suffering that man’s ways always turn out to be wrong. Having learned this lesson, humanity will be far more ready to listen genuinely when God does open their minds and hearts to His Truth.
The Great Creator who gives all mankind life and breath and all things wants everyone to be in His Family some day. But being "saved" and becoming full sons and daughters of God in His everlasting Kingdom goes way beyond what most people understand!
It is not just a matter of "accepting Jesus" in some emotion-filled revival meeting. It is not a matter of just "joining a church." Rather, it is a matter of being fully surrendered to the God of the Bible through a personal relationship with the true Jesus Christ. It is a matter of a person genuinely yielding their heart, mind and will so that the Living Jesus Christ—as High Priest—can fully live His life inside that individual. As the inspired Apostle Paul tells us: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20, KJV).
Through completely surrendering to let the true Christ live within us, we can develop—over time—the very character of God! Through Christ within, the true Christian is enabled to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). In that God-ordained manner, the Christian becomes a genuine "overcomer." For—through Christ living within me—I gradually overcome myself, the world and Satan the Devil. Then, I am far more prepared for eternal life in Christ’s Kingdom than if I just "got saved" or "joined a church" in the traditional sense of this deceived world!

Unfortunately, most Christians who preach "let Jesus into your heart" follow up with "and throw out everyone else" and "hang out with us only".
I think Jesus and many non Christians would get along fine; it's just a few, hatefilled Christians claiming a monopoly that cause avoidance.

I am glad to hear that you know what you believe in. I wish more theists were like you in that respect. But not everyone believes in Jesus, or any deity. To try and convert people is foolish, present your arguments, and let people decide what they want to believe for themselves.

Seeing people talk about religions really makes me wonder about after life, in a humorous sort of way. I'm sure all will come their way in time.

Does everyone understand what I mean when I say say: you people use Jesus (who was Christed- not his last name: "hey Mr. Christ, will you have the usual tonight?") as a crutch, a shield, and a scapegoat. You'd really have p*ssed him off!

I believe as you do. I am not religious, I am a Christian. Religion is an institution and well, so is a prison.

I'm afraid that everyone does not understand what we mean. I most certainly wish that they did. I agree with your statements 100 percent. May God bless you.
