s Hell Eternal?
The teaching that there is an eternal hell in which hordes of mankind will suffer eternal punishment can be a difficult doctrine to accept. We hear so much about God's infinite love and how He desires that all men be saved (1 Tim. 2:4). However, those who develop their theologies based upon the "gentle" side of God do so with an incomplete picture. Not only is God loving (1 John 4:8-10), gracious (Exo. 33:19; 1 Pet. 2:3), and merciful (Exodus 34:6; Psalm 67:1; James 5:11), but He is also holy (Isaiah 6:3; Rev. 4:8), just ( Neh. 9:32-33; 2 Thess. 1:6), and hates sin (Psalm 5:5-6; Hab. 1:13). God punishes the sinner (Jer. 50:31; Ez. 44:12; Matt. 25:46; 2 Thess. 1:9; 2 Pet. 2:9; Heb. 10:29).

Revelation 20:10 - "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
Revelation 14: 10-11 - "He too, will drink the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulphur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."
Mark 9: 43-48 says the fire never goes out and Matthew 18: 8 says "thrown into the eternal fire."
Matthew 25: 46 - Jesus says that the punishment lasts as long as eternal life. "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
Matthew 26: 8 uses the Greek word 'appolumai' (to destroy). It does not use the word that means to annihilate. If hell simply meant annihilation, the New Testament writers would have used the Greek 'ek medenisis' (annihilation) or 'ekmedenizw' (to annihilate). They did not. Death and Hades (the interim place for the dead - the grave) are thrown into the lake of fire, the second death. The earliest New Testament message "flee from the wrath to come" does not infer annihilation.
But please remember that Jesus spoke more about salvation than he did about hell.

Well, if a person goes to Hell the book of Revelations says that when the rapture occurs, God and Jesus will overthrow Satan and he and all those who are judged to go will be cast into the eternal lake of fire. We need to believe in God's words! The bible is your gateway to Heaven, so dont listen to the crap from all these people who say religion is dead or that Christians are liars. Do what is right and avoid sin as often as you can. Remember, Heaven is eternal, and thats our goal! =)

Yes, it is described as eternal torment.
The existence of hell or separation from God is very real. However, what form hell assumes or in what manner a damned person will suffer, is open to debate. No one has come back to report the temperature in hell. And no human can judge whether another is damned.
Theologians suggest that hell be seen as a state of total rejection of God. Like heaven, it is not a place and is not subject to time.

Yes. Hell, like Heaven, is an eternal state of being. Eternity is the *lack of* measurable time; eternity "is". God created time for His creation, and the sun, planets and stars and their movements are part of his "clock".
Hell is the state of being totally and irreversibly separated from the presence of God.

Yes. Without a doubt whatsoever. God's Word teaches us very plainly that Hell is an eternal destination for those who refuse to receive Christ as their personal Savior.

Yes and Yes.
God wants everyone to get to Heaven, but not everybody wants to...(hey people are STUPID at times) and even those folks that want to don't always want to do what it takes to get into Heaven.
Hell IS real, people have seen it.

God is not a wimp. Jesus is one tough cookie... think about how He got beat on, whipped, and nailed to a cross... and He did NOT loose his temper.... takes guts to do that.
Jesus is also JUST. Think of the horrible things people do to each other... abortion, rape, murder, torture, domestic violence... cheating people out of hard earned wages... lies, slander, theft... nice, sweet, innocent people don't get sent to Hell.
You can escape God's justice through Jesus, and accepting Him as your Savior AND meaning it... in the sense that it chages how you live. God doesn't play "lip service", you can't BS the Supreme Being.
But if you decide you want to walk away from God and reject Him... hey, Jesus is cool with that. He will be sad about it because He loves you, but he will also respect your choice. It is YOUR choice after all... and you have been warned.
IF the Bible wasn't enough there are the visions I liked to above... notice two things.. first she says "I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like.." and second "But I noticed one thing: That most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell"

I think that according to Bible the answer from most would be yes. I do believe in God and eternal salvation but am not sure that I believe in Hell. I think the Bible is mostly God's word but it is written by men at a time when so many lacked education and understanding, that it was easier to convey ideas in story form and to me HELL represents the problems we cause ourselves when we make bad choices. I think there will be judgement from God and remorse from us but I see God as being too loving to send any of his children to hell for eternity. But that's just what I think, I haven't studied theology in depth or anything.
