What I really wanted to know:
Do you feel that being online has made it easier to be open and honest?
If so, do you feel you could talk this openly with family, friends or your partner?

Being anonymous, can make it seem to be more honest. It is easier to be honest with people here, becaust family , friends and partners, are often the problem and it helps to talk to others, to get the insite and help you need if you can get it...I have tried to be open with family and friends, only to be stabbed in the back and gossiped about...here,that do'nt happen

Being online does make it easier to be more open and honest. I know that I can't talk as easily as I do online, with my family or certain friends offline. My boyfriend is an exception, I feel that I can tell him anything.

Yes, I am much more open and honest when I'm online. I don't have to worry about hiding my shame, as I am very unlikely to meet any of you down the street. Also I don't have to worry about giving away too many secrets as at the end of the day there is very little you can do about it, whereas (though I kno this won't happen), my therapist could insist I go into a mental health ward, or return those extra tablets, or even tell my gp if he is worried about my health.

Yeah its definately easier online... I think thats part of the reason this website is here, so you can ask questions otherwise you might not...
Its prolly easier because the people reading and answering your questions or reading your answers, dont know you and they can judge you all they want but it'll never affect you... And if there is someone you dont want to know something then there is no chance they will find out...

Did that make sense?

Eg: I've lied to all my friends so much about my drug use that most of them dont think I do meth anymore... So I cant ask them for their opinions or their help but online I can ask away and they'll never know and then the answers I get are actually kinda helpful...

I answer each question as honestly online as I would if I looked them in the face. You may never know when you really may have helped someone. An honest simple answer is what people want to hear not some off the wall stuff.

That's mostly the reason why I come to Yahoo Answers when I'm lonely or bored or stressed. There's thousands of people on here at the same time, and we're all just asking and answering questions. It gives you something to do and a way to vent I guess.

yeah the Internet has allowed many ppl to express themselves. Some come here for guide others come just to kill time. Talking about fam issues yeah why not I mean ppl don't know who's actually typing this down yet that's what makes the Internet dangerous too.

I think I am more open, not with important stuff like name, address, school, number, so-on and so forth. But it's easier to be a freak(like I am)online because NOBODY CAN SAY ANYTHING about me. And if they do, it's not like they are important. So it's like wth, why not lol.

I think because when you are online, you don't have to tell people your name and such, so you feel like you have privacy and no one can judge you. I don't think I could be this honest with my family. They would laugh (or look at me weird)
