I get what you mean, but the real point of the feminist movement is to promote equality, not take away femininity. I'm very much for equality, but, as to your point, we can't ignore that there are still differences between men and women.
I say, wear the jeans and t-shirt, or the modest but flirty dress, whichever you want.
Anyone who is so extreme as to diminish femininity is not a true feminist. If anyone tries to get rid of femininity, then they're saying that it's not as good as being a man, which is exactly what feminism is against.

The "role" of a lady is just that...a role, but a fascinating one nonetheless! It wasn't and isn't only the adamant feminists that destroyed the image of a lady, the guys helped a lot too. It was never about "acting" the role of a gentleman and lady, it was about true equality in the marketplace and in the world. Some women accepted, and indeed made reference to, the fact that we didn't NEED men to hold doors for us or any of the other amenities ladies and gentlemen enjoyed for many years. When the pendulum swings, it must swing hard in order to bring about change...and it did just that.
No woman need hide their femininity no matter what the circumstances. As far as language is concerned, one needn't accept trash mouthed behavior from anyone, however, we usually teach others how to treat us no matter if we are male or female by accepting bad behavior or language. I don't expect anyone to open a door for me but it's nice when they do. I've opened a door for many people in my time and never thought a thing about it unless they didn't acknowledge the gesture!
My take on it is this...in business I'd rather be making what the guy next to me is making if we're in the same position rather than have him open any doors for me! In my personal life I find no problem with it either way. At 61, I still have doors opened for me by gentlemen who are kind enough to do so...but I expect nothing!

I think the feminists are a part of it but only a small part. Too many girls think they have to be one or the other but it is possible to wear the blue jeans and t-shirts at one time and the dress at another and there are still men who do open doors and think of some females as ladies but I do agree that there are not as many as there should be.

They also complain that women who get divorced and live as a single parent live in greater poverty. Apparently we should be responsible for their choices once again. They'll never admit that their movement has negatively affected women with their constant blaming of everything on men. They'll just blame things on men more. They're going to continue doing this until men finally say that we are not going to be fixing their problem regardless of how responsible they are for them. The result of all this is that not only are future generations becoming more and more delinquent and nihilistic as a result of not having a positive male role model around .. which ironically results in people not caring about notions of self-sacrifice such as chivalry which feminism depends on, but young men have no positive role to aspire to anyway, so what else is there for them to do but cause a lot of trouble? We're seeing this in the rise of gang culture and violent crime (much of it against women) across the western world. Additionally, we're seeing it in the hard time women, particularly feminists, get on the Internet.. LOL!!

Well fo beginers a feminis is someone who believes that women should be paid the same amount as a man for doing he same job...But anywho I think women are becoming more independent mostly because of the high divorce rate. Some things have changed and even gender roles have changed. But I do not believe that the "lady" has been pushed out the door yet.. but it is diminishing.

No. I think that there are many types of women. Some are feminine and others are not. As for the men, there are still true gentlemen out there -- if thats what you want you will find one. Just keep looking.
Be whoever you want to be. Be with whomever you want to be with. It's all good ...
blessed be...

I think the image has been altered to the point to where we don't recognize it anymore. today's society is able to see both extreme ends of what women are subjected to. What was thought of as outrageous in now rather conservative. I understand what your getting at though. I'd like to date a "Lady" but i can't seem to find one.

I love it when a man holds a door open for me, compliments me, and shows me a good time. I love to wear tee shirts, but I also will wear skirts and dresses. I like being a lady. I make fun of the little Fema-Nazis and their wana-be manly ways.

i agree with u..... ill try to be a gentleman and hold doors for girls and all that, but very rarely is there a girl that i feel deserves it. most of the girls i know just dont have an image i find attractive at all. girls want equal rights which is find, but they also want to be able to act like guys. if they dont want to be treated differently, then guys stop treating them politely.
> ps. girls swearing and/or smoking is just unattractive.
