I don't work in one, but I work with the elderly. You need a lot of patience, and I mean a lot. You really have to have a big heart and not think of them as being so old. I always think of them as walking encyclopedia's. They know so much more than we do and they've had all kinds of experiences that we'll probably never get to do. If you don't think that you can handle things like dementia, alzheimers, incontinence, slowness, etc, then you shouldn't get into this sort of work. They really do need good people. I hope that your one of them.

It's just like working with the middle aged, only older : )
Listen just treat them as human beings equal to you and you'll be all right. Every one has a story inside them - LISTEN more than talk to hear theirs.
