It seems like in the media and in general, everyone is biased against Judaism/Christianity. People use Christ's (or God's) name as a curse word, but they'd never imagine of using another god's name (Allah, Buddha, etc). And they make movies and television shows mocking God, but they never mock Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or the hundreds of other faiths out there. I'm tired of this. And on top of it, people like Benny Hinn, Tammy Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart and 99% of all those other awful televangelists make Christianity look like a joke. What is your opinion on this (Christians or non-Christians can answer)?

Most of you have been blinded by the depiction of Jesus that America has given it. If you saw Christians in China, or in the Middle East, and how much they're being persecuted, you wouldn't be saying the things you're saying. Most "Christians" aren't even living for Jesus, and they're not Christians at all (most of the Texans, for example).

I am opposed to gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy and drooling stupidity. I find these things to be profoundly annoying, and a threat to the future of mankind. So, I see it as my ethical duty and moral responsibility... as a sane and rational human being... to confront each of those things whenever and wherever I encounter them. So... I find it to be a matter of great convenience that religion... and Christianity and Islam, in particular... encapsulates ALL of those dubious 'qualities' into one neat, tidy, easily identifiable package... with a bow on top. It permits me to confront them with greater efficiency than might otherwise be possible. I am a big fan of efficiency.

Christianity has been the norm for western civilization for the last 1800 years or so up until maybe maybe the last 20 or 30 years when society has been evolving from the "me generation" and faith has decreased so that many folks who call themselves Christian no longer think it's important to go to church or understand anything about God and follow personalities like Oprah or Dr. Phil or whoever (not criticizing those particular celebrities) more than following Christ.
Since Christianity is now looked upon by many as kind of "out of fashion" or the "old guard" and because people have had first hand experience with Christianity and blame all the bad things that have happened through history as being the result of the "old guard", then naturally Christianity becomes the target.

Our society has been mostly Christian since the inception of this country. I can't tell you how many Christians I hear curse using God and Jesus. I think it's done because they feel like it's their religion and they can make fun of it. Same thing goes with the movies and TV shows. Usually though it's the dogma that is made fun of, not God or Jesus. I can't stand televangelists at all. I think they're all fake and in it for the money.

There is a very simple answer to this question. With the advent of the Internet, quality research resources have become available to everyone worldwide. This has brought information heretofore unavailable for comparative analysis. Now falsehoods and outright lies have become exposed, of which Judeo-Christians are the most prevalent culprits.
There is no longer any reason to continue playing these false religious games when proven untrue. That is called "Delusion."

Well if you actually do the research the whole judeo-Christian logic train is pretty thin.
Self proclaimed chosen people. And a bible compiled by a roman emperor that conveniently saw a message from god in the sky. Dogma borrowed chapter and verse from assorted pagan sources.
It's all there for anyone who want to take the time to do the necessary research.

First, Buddha is NOT, I repeat NOT, a god. Buddhists do not believe that. He was a man, plain and simple, just a man who had a great degree of enlightenment. He didn't have any super powers. He did rise from the dead. He didn't walk on water.
Second, if you lived in Texas you would see just how hard it is to survive being an atheist. It is definitely difficult. Did you know that I am not allowed by the Texas state constitution to ever run for political office because I am an atheist?

Another christian crying "persecution." If you don't like the way your belief system is being portrayed...go after the people making you guys look bad, instead of crying "nobody likes me....".
And to JH...come down off your "holier than thou" high horse. Claiming that christians are being persecuted and then having the balls to compare that to racial profiling at airports are 2 completely different things. Anybody at an airport who looks middle eastern, whether they're a muslim or not is going to get looks and be labeled a "terrorist". Nobody even blinks an eye when somebody wearing a "God is Great" t-shirt gets on a plane.
Though I must admit...it seems that christians prefer blowing up abortion clinics rather than airplanes.

Because it tends to be the dominant viewpoint--and also a very domineering one. I still don't know why so many conservative Christians want everyone to be like them. This world wasn't made that way, and the Bible most assuredly states that. I'll never understand where they're coming from, and all I can do is laugh.

If I could give you two stars for this post, I would have. Our society which apparently espouses all this Christian belief sure doesnt seem to show it in our movies, music, tv, etc. Where are all these representations of us if we are so prevelent? People tell me all the time the nation is getting more Christian, not more secular. Even in politics, I cannot even grasp that opinion. I honestly believe people are blind to what they rather not see. Its easy to keep an angry platform about this horrible hateful group of people who are taking over the world, instead of seeing the reality that God is disappearing from almost all aspects of our society.
EDIT: Here was a good question today about persecution.
