Your insurance should pay for your medical if you have that coverage on your policy (it would fall under collision). But even though you don't SEE any damage on your vehicle, you might want to have a collision shop take the bumper cover off to see if there is any hidden damage to your car. If you were hit hard enough to cause injury, the bumper absorber or impact bar could be damaged, compromising your safety even further if you are rear ended again.

File a police report as soon as possible, giving the name and contact info of the witnesses. The report will help establish that you were involved in a legitimate accident, for your insurance company.

Because the other driver drove off, he or she would be guilty of a hit-and-run accident.

Go see your doctor for his or her diagnosis and treatment and keep copies of all of your bills. These bills will become the basis for your medical expense reimbursements from your insurance company.
Then contact your insurance company and ask what their timeline is for the claims process.
If your injuries are serious, then when your healthier, you might also consult with a lawyer who specializes in personal injury cases, who can give you further advice. In some states, an initial 30-minute consultation can be provided at low or no cost.
