a good first truck would be a Chevy s-10, in a car id choose a Nissan sentra, those are good cars, and very reliable also, and for younger drivers their really cheap to insure, right now dollar for dollar,Nissan's have the best deal going on cars, and the get well over 35 miles to the gallon ,not to bad for a cheap car ,good luck.

I would say the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. Both cars are very durable and can last for a long long time. They are great on gas, geting up to 40 miles per gallon. And the egine can last up to 250,000 miles or way more. All depends if you take care of the car. Both use the same concept on their engines, using variable value timing, which gives you more horsepower at higher RPM and better fuel uses. Honda uses the V-TEC and Toyota uses the VVT-i engine. And hardly any thing goes wrong with these cars, because they are so well engineered. Also they are so cheat to fix. The Japanes really know how to make a car.

Trucks are the work horses of the auto industry. If you own a truck you will be moving all your friends stuff around. Basic sedans owned by little old ladys last the longest. You did not include details like your age and money you have to put down and income. It is easy to want what we cannot afford.

Trucks, while fun to drive, aren't the most practical cars. I drove my dad's for a while and loved it but it got about 10 miles to the gallon. Now I have a Civic and I love it. Not the coolest car on the planet, but I get amazing gas mileage and have only had to get the oil changed in 2 years.

Go with a Toyota truck or a Toyota product. They seem the most reliable.
