If you need to quit before finding other work. Just do it. Give them two weeks notice. Give them a letter thanking them for the opportunities you had with them. The letter should be about two lines long. If they ask, just say open ended questions, like "the time is right." or "there is an opportunity that I am exploring that lead me to believe I should be in that business." Give a couple of those answers in a row, they will get bored and stop asking. If it is a low level job or one you haven't been at long. Tell them your reason, be polite. And then in the interview for your next job, you have a great answer for questions like, "How did you deal with conflict in your past job?" Like the other people said, you don't necessarily have to use them as a reference, depending on your new job...

There is wisdom in leaving the job you are in for another job in hand. I always tell people, this job will get your next one. Use your useless job to your advantage.

Well, I just quit my last job, which I hated, and I gave valid reasons such as; being that it was only commission I didn't feel stable, I'm not into pressure sales tactics, and I needed a job with a base pay! Then I mentioned a few things that I did like about the job to make it a smoother departure, such as "it was a good experience and I enjoyed the people I worked with". So basically I would just be honest yet don't be critical of anyone or anything. Mention reasons that you want to leave that don't seem to put anyone down. I'm sure you can think up a few things. Always good to not burn your bridges when it comes to employers. Unless it's horrible! Even if used them as a reference and just quit, they can't give you a negative review (it's against the law!), they just wouldn't say much if anything. Hope helped!

Generally people interview better when they already have a job. If you are sure you will get another job without having big financial issues then just let them know that it just isn't a good match for you. Though, often people get more anxious about a job interview when they don't have a job because they want to get that job so bad for fear of what the financial impact will be on their life.

I GUESS YOU CAN TELL THEM THAT YOU HAVE HAD ANOTHER JOB OFFER. DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN THERE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THEM AS A REFERENCE. IT MAY SHOW A GAP IN YOUR WORK HISTORY BUT THE BEST THING I CAN SAY, IS START LOOKING BEFORE YOU QUIT. THAT WAY IF THEY WANT TO CALL THE PLACE YOU ARE AT NOW THEY CAN. KEEP FAKING IT, IT WILL PAY OFF WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO LEAVE AND GET A GOOD REFERENCE.

look for the new job before you give any indication at your present job that you intend to leave. you will have to explain to potential employers that you are very unhappy in your present situation , but must stay on there for finacial reasons until you find something better suited to you. be prepared to provide references.

I would just be honest... Tell them you are getting burned out and you don't want to show in your work.
