Because you throw rice at the bride and groom?? Every wedding i have been to never had nuts with the cake. Alot of nuts dancing and partying but not nuts for the cake. LOL

I have never heard of or seen nuts served along side a wedding cake.

Tradition, I guess. I never even really thought about it. I just plan on having a bowl of nuts and a bowl of mints next to the cake. I think it is a combo of salty to balance the sweet, something to munch on, and people sometimes just like nuts. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

At my reception I had bowls of nuts out (before we knew about nut allergies - this was decades ago)

It's salty to balance the sweet, and to have something little to munch on.

i don't know, i wouldn't do it, i would be afraid someone would have an allergic reaction, my boyfriend is allergic to nuts and so is a woman i work with and she had to go home early one night b/c we had a pot luck and she ate something she didn't know had nuts in it.
