Lately i've had anxiety constantly. Sometimes i can give myself a panic attack. I think about my breathing and convince myself it's irregular and then my chest starts to feel heavy, and my heart starts beating fast, like i'm about to die or pass out. It scares me and its happening daily now. I'm constantly thinking about it, so it makes it worse, but i can't stop! I thought something was seriously wrong so i went to the ER and they did a bunch of tests and said i was fine. They gave me an inhaler and ibuprofen, and didnt take me seriously because im a teenager. I dont want drugs I just want this to stop. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

hello- i had the same symptoms since i was 13 and never told anyone.
finally at 30 i was diagnosed with anxiety and put on a low dose of anti-anxiety meds- and i have not had any attacks or major anxiety since.
they also had me go to a therapist, but i found that to make me more anxious.
i told my regular doctor about my symptoms and she ws able to help me.
good luck!
or you can call a mental heath care provider-
i highly recommend fluoxitine- it has worked wonders for me - i am on a very low dose

I have had anxiety and panic attacks for the last 5 years and I have tried just about everything there is to stop them. Here are some of your options.

Medication: There are 2 medications that I have tried and both relieved all my symptoms and let me relax.

Xanax 0.5mg - This will relieve all anxiety within a 20 minute period. It is however only a short term fix, However if you want to stop panicking and get a grip on your life for a day or two it's a great thing to take.

Celexa 20mg - Taking this medication for a 6 month to a year period will most certainly end your anxiety. It was very successful for me.

If you don't like to take medicine I recommend you try hypnosis or cognitive therapy. There are many books in the bookstore to help you with this. I recommend the following books. http://www.feelinggood.com/press%20release%20When%20Panic%20Attacks.htm

Anxiety is a very common problem. You are not alone and really you should see a doctor and ask him for advice. It is fully treatable and you will recover. It's all a mind game. Once you understand how to beat your mind you will recover. In the mean time until you understand how to beat your mind I suggest using some of the meds listed above. Good luck mate...You can beat it trust me

If you doctor doesn't want to discuss medication with you to help you out I suggest you find a qualified Therapist to give you some. You need to break the cycle right now and and have some panic free days to get your head around this.

Well, Sydney, some of us get it when others don't. All I can say is look at your diet. Stop eating junk food and fast food or at least greatly limit it. Eat fruits and vegetables--I say apples and carrots because they are pretty cheap and available all year long. Drink plenty of water, take a multi-vitamin daily for your gender that is high in B vitamins. Get sunshine, exercise and fresh air every day--about 20 minutes--walk around the block, ride your bike. Ask yourself this, I can choose anxiety or peace, which is it going to be. You are just as good as anybody else, so go out there and be yourself and seize your life. God bless.

You need to check this out with a professional because it sounds like you may have panic disorder, and it is treatable with medication. Why suffer if the symptoms can easily be treated? Do yourself a favor and go to a professional; you might save yourself from years of misery. Make an appointment with a mental health Dr.; the emergency room often misses these things, and you need a real diagnosis.

omg! ive had the same thing. ..once, i was driving over a really long bridge and had a panic attack and had a hard time breathing.... when this happens, WILL yourself to breathe deeply and slowly. concentrate on you breathing and block ALL other destressing thoughts out untill your heart rate stabalizes. next, you have to work on YOU and your life and try to overcome what is stressing you out. get RID of the stress. (in my case, it was a no good bf who didnt appreciate me at all) good luck.....

Go see a therapist or go to a mental health clinic They can refer you to a psychiatrist. There are medications that work quite well to lower anxiety. You don't want to live like this. Really, you'll feel better.
