This is probably a kitten habit for wanting to play with you. maybe you can find other ways to make your kitten happy. Your kitten is also at the stage of teethhing and/or needs a scratching post. All felines need something to scratch their claws out. Train a kitten to use a scratching post by sitting them on you lap, and moving their paw up and down on the post. It also helps to put catnip on it. If the problem with chewing and biting gets bad, spray something on you fingers that's bitter.

If you're "rough housing" with her you should stop. And if she does it on her own, tell her 'no' and point at her. Continue to do this until she learns. If she does stop, praise her right away by telling her she's a good girl. She's young, so it shouldn't take her too long to realize it that biting the mouth that feeds her is bad. I have seven felines (all of different ages ranging from 2 years to 9) and all know the words no, food, up, and few other select words. Whatever you do, don't hit her. She'll become angry with you and be afraid of everyone that comes near her.

If you don't want to smack your kitten or spray it with a water bottle (2 things I could never bring myself to do) then I have an alternative plan for you.

Get some cat toys... like those little catnip mice, and when she starts gnawing on you, replace your finger with one of the mice. After awhile they forget about chewing on your fingers or hands because they have other things to play with.

I have three cats, and it has worked on all of them.

She is trying to hold on to your hand. If you notice, when you let her have hold of your hand for a length of time, she will eventually lick it. Your kitten thinks you are another cat, believe it or not, and is treating you like one. That is how cats hold onto their kittens and each other for grooming. Mutual grooming is VERY important to cats, it is a big part of their social structure. Spend more time stroking her (which she thinks is you licking her) and allowing her to hold onto your hand. I don't think you'll "break" her from doing this, it is in her nature. But if you increase the time allowed for mutual grooming, she may become less clingy.

this kitten thinks you are another playful kitty----you may want to get cat toys---maybe those toys on a string and this kitten will learn not to play with you but the toy. and by chance if the kitten should slip let out a yell and it will quit

i had the same problem with my guy...i sprayed my hand with apple bitters (found at any pet store to deter chewing) them tried to coax him to take a bite. when he did, he let go immediately and tried to spit it out of his mouth. after a few rounds of this, he got the picture. i also used it to put on the air pump tubing after he punctured it from chewing and drained a few tanks.

A consistent spray in the face with a small water bottle it Works. It's a training technique.Anytime they misbehave,
verbal correction and a quick spray of water. They catch on to this as correction.

my kitten does that too! all you need to do is when she scratches too hard, hiss like a real cat would, and she'll stop. works all the time for me.

Just play with her. She will grow out of it. Mine did that and now when I want to play she doesn't. MOST adult cats don't do that.
