Because Bush and the American Religious Right desperately fear anything that smacks of Socialism; Bush apparently takes his cue on social issues from Dickens's Scrooge:

"Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?"

I think health care aid is definitely a plus for everyone. I, myself, can't imagine if my husband and I didn't have insurance. Unfortunately it comes at a high price. We pay over $500.00 a month for my husband's insurance, and even then the cost of going to the hospital is still astronomical. I think that where we need to see the help, is in the "billing" departments at the hospitals. The charges are ridiculous. I would love to see the government put a "price cap" on the heath care industry. That way it would help us all.

He's a hypocrite. He calls himself the "education president", but what he doesn't understand is when children don't feel well, they can't learn. I'm a teacher and have seen so many cases where families don't have health insurance who don't take their children to the doctor because they can't afford it. I guess he doesn't care if "our childrens do learn".

I cannot see how you can compare a tyrant to that of a Christian. God's word, the Bible warns us to "steer clear of political matters ane meaningless worldly debates", so anyone claiming to be a Christian and who is a president is not a true Christian but a blasphemer and a liar.

I mean really, do you see Bush as a true Christian man? What did Jesus do when the Jews wanted to make him a King there in the land at that time? He said "My kingdom is no part of this world and in order for you to be a part of my kingdom you must not fashion yourself after this world". This means his kingdom is a heavenly kingdom that will rule over the earth soon, not a stupid, corrupt manmade government that is always under attack and ruinous in its conduct.

Bush IS NOT a Christian at all, but a greedy, bigoted, tyrant male that uses false religion to get over on the weak people who believe in that garbage. He also gets over on those who pride themselves of intelligence but who obviously lack accurate Godly and Bible standards.

True Christians have preached the word of God in every corner of the earth, so now a few more things must occur before Armageddon because several prophecies have already been fulfilled. Now we await when government topples all of false religion, but when the government attacks the "one and true religion" this is where God steps in sending his son, Jesus Christ who will come as a thief in the night and WILL destroy all wickedness in the earth.

This includes all of false religions, governments, and all of those ones mingling within them.

Trust.

The best thing is it was going to be paid for with a raise in the cigarette tax. It would have helped the kids and maybe get some people to give up smoking. A win win situation and Bush couldn't see it.

Who says Bush is moral? He has no consideration for the American people, he more concerned with his own selfish interests even if it means ruining the lives of all Americans.

politicians like the president only allow things that will make them a lot of money. i would assume, since bush vetoed the child healthcare bill, it would have cost the govt money instead of making it. i could be wrong, though.

Because his idea of morality is based on antiquated laws he doesn't value anyway. Thou shalt not kill was lost on him. So was consciousness.

Because CLAIMING you're a Christian doesn't make you a good one. It's too bad so many fundamentalists believed him when he said such things. Many are still staunch supporters because they heard him make that claim, and just continue to follow blindly. Actions speak louder than words.
