Is it at all possible to get any of the pictures in them developed after this long of a time? I would love to see at least a few because I believe they were from prom and a couple of other special events at the end of my school year. Please, if there is any hope let me know I just don't wanna go and pay to get nothing back.

It's a hard question to answer. You haven't mentioned how long ago was it. It totally depends on the expiry date on the films which is impossible to say while the film is in the camera. I would say if it has been more than four years, it's probably hopeless. But if less, give it a try. They will probably be blurred and washed out.
But you can explain the situation to the photo place and ask them just to develope the film for you and print no pics (which is usually cheap). Then when ready, look at the negative film and see if the photos are good enough for printing. Then you will be paying for the good one only, if any.

How long ago was high school. For my that's almost 40 years, and that's probably too long.

The biggest problem you're going to run into is color shift. You probably won't get good images from a sizeable number of negatives, but there will probably be some that produce an okay image.

It's been awhile since I've had any film processed, but if I remember, most lab don't charge you for prints that don't turn out. That may have changed, or it may depend on the lab or processor.

If you want to save any images, the sooner you get the film processed, the better the chances you'll get something.

it depends on where they were kept. If they were in a dry cool place with out to many of the elements you might be able to get pictures off them if they are under ten years old

Have them developed. You only pay for the ones they print.
