I stay in hotels a lot. All too often the Contrast and Brightness are turned down, making it hard to see details. To make matters worse, Hotel Staff NEVER seem to have a remote that will open the menu... not even the Maitenence Man.

Will it work to bring a universal remote, or will they not work on various Hotel TV's?

You never know if universal controls will work. (probably not).
In most hotel TVs the menus are "locked" so that users can't access TV picture settings.
But it is worth trying.
