For about 3 months now I, without any break, have been consumed by a fear that everyone potentially is out to get me. Like that people either want to kill me or at the very least do bodily harm to me. I swear to you that I have been thinking of this fear for 3 months now every minute and hour of the day. I could b reading a book & still these thoughts pop into my mind while reading or even talking to a friend of mine on the phone. I draw up scenarios in my mind that would seem impossible 2 others but possible 2 me in which people harm me or r plotting to harm me. I am 19 and I am already beginning to go insane. Like actually insane 2 the point where I am actually avoiding as much contact with the outside world as possbile besides the friends and family that I trust. I fear that old enemies from the past are plotting to kill me in the future. It is taking over my entire life. I won't even go places much anymore unless I'm familiar with them. Is this normal? Should I get help? Advice???

it all started when I read a few things on the internet. It sparked this extreme extreme extreme paranoia. My life has been destroyed by this. I want my life back. I appear normal to everyone else but inside this eats at me every single second.

Ok, first of all, Baby boy? BREATHE....ok better? Now, who are these enemies that you have made? Is this real? Or are you imagining these enemies as well? If these enemies that may kill you truly do exist, like some one you have wronged, physically or mentally, any one that you rubbed the wrong way, and from that moment on they swore to destroy you? go to the police and get restraining orders....but only if this paranoia is rational.... If it isn't then yes, get help. Talk this out with a psychologist. what was it that you read?! I sometimes have halucinations late at night after I've watched something scary, but not for 3 months....I have an over active imagination. Judging by what you have written so do you. For me its just something that i gradually get over, but you need to get help. Are you stressed at work/school? is there someone that is giving you grief? if that is so, get them away from you! I hope that you get better! ♥

Sounds like your paranoid thought are coming from a mood disorder, where not enough seratonin gets to the brain. The anxiety is setting you up for scary, irrational thinking. At one time, driving or even the thought of driving, caused me severe anxiety. Signing my name on a check in a bank. Standing in line at a grocery store. If I heard a siren somewhere and even "thought " my grown children were in a five mile radius, I'd be calling their cell phones. Your anxiety has caused you extreme agoraphobia and paranoia. Your not insane, but do need to see a doc, so they can either treat you with therapy and (or) meds. Do it, you'll be soooo glad you did, ok?

Schizophrenia of the paranoid type, usually starts in early adulthood, could be genetics...not your fault. you can find much info on this searching the internet, but you really need to see a doctor, there are many new medicines out there now that can control your feelings...you are not crazy, but if you don't seek professional help your thoughts can ruin your life and others around you. this disease can progress into violent episodes. I am not a doctor but this disease runs in my family. It has caused my aunt to lose her child and my uncle to beat his elderly father with an iron bar hallucinating that he was someone else trying to attack him...please do not ignore this it won't go away

If it persists, I'd start thinking about asking a psychiatrist what he thinks. Irrational paranoia is a typical feature of schizophrenia. Also, schizophrenia has a tendency to start to appear in early adulthood. You said you're 19...it would make sense for issues to start appearing about now.

Luckily, schizophrenia can be controlled with meds. You don't have to let it ruin your life.

But then again - it could be something completely different.

I'm sorry to say that from the way you describe it, this is not something you're going to be able to "cure" with help over the internet. You need professional help . . . and quickly before this problem progresses even more.

You don't indicate whether you're in a position to have a personal doctor, have adequate insurance or what, but WHATEVER you have to do to get medical help, do it!

See a psychiatrist. I believe you would benefit by medication. Do not stall in taking care of this.
