Depends on how traditional the Jewish person is, what branch of Judaism they belong to.

For Orthodox Jews, the most religious Jews, they wouldn't have to drive to the synagogue because usually all live in the neighborhood of the synagogue. So this isn't a problem.

For Conservative Jews (who are kind of in the middle between the stricter Orthodox, and the more liberal Reform Jews), they may drive, but some choose not to, some do. They may or may not live in the same neighborhood as the synagogue.

For Reform Jews, they drive and may or may not live in the same neighborhood as their synagogue.

For Orthodox Jews, yes. But it wouldn't be an issue because it is for this reason we all live within walking distance of our synagogues. Conservative Jews will drive to synagogue, but not to anywhere else. Reform Jews will drive.

Orthodox Jews probably are, the less strict sects can probably drive if it is not work related especially to drive to the synagogue.

I'm a Christian Sabbath-keeper and I drive to church. If you start attaching man-made rules such as the one you described, then it becomes a legalistic and torturous experience. GOD intended the Sabbath to be a blessing, not a man-made curse.

Genesis 2:3  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exodus 20:11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

GOD bless

No. Driving would only be permitted if a life were in danger.
