No I don't. My father, brother, husband, and son all became alcoholics at different points in their lives and because I watched my father become one, I wouldn't touch a drink. But I still married someone who was an alcoholic.
I found after attending a school meeting where the school sent out letters to 200 parents of children they believed had either drug or alcohol problems, only 10 parents showed up. And the special speakers they had told us that when one parent is an alcoholic, the chances of a boy child becoming alcoholic if they drink is 80-85%. If both parents are alcoholic, that goes up to 90-95%. If the child is a girl, it's 50-50% whether it's one parent or both. AND, if a child starts drinking when they are young and still growing, they can get cirrhosis of the liver 10 times faster than that drunk on the street can do in years and years of drinking. More and more children were going through Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with cirrhosis of the liver than ever before. Usually that is a disease they only see in adults.
So, glad to hear you don't drink. Check your family history to see if you have relatives who are alcoholics and if you find them, then there very well could be a hereditary factor involved there.
At Kirkland Care Unit in Kirkland, WA, a fellow who had been sober for 35 years spoke to the group and said that if he were to take a drink tomorrow, it would be as if he had been drinking for the entire 35 years and he would die. I'm not sure how much truth there is in what he said but it's definitely something to think about.
In my family, my father, brother and son all quit drinking. My husband died on the streets.

I'm young too!I don't drink beer.On time..my cousin did a prank on me...and I turned out drinking beer.
