Why are people fascinated with the second coming of Jesus?

What is commonly known of as Easter, is actually a seasonal Jewish Feast called Passover. Biblically Jesus will come back at "the second coming". It may or may not coincide with a Jewish Feast, but Passover has been fulfilled already. His return will be at the end of a 7 year tribulation. This is now 2010.. so just by counting alone, it would have to be the year 2017. I'm only saying that to point out that there is no tribulation happening now, and the year 2012 would be too soon. I'm not making any predictions of when Jesus will return.

Because everything will be made right. There will be no more wars, no pain, no suffering. We will all live in peace, love and light. This world as we know it will come to an end. It is the hope in the heart of every christian. I very much look forward to it.

Because for one thing, when He comes back Secretly for his church it is called "our blessed HOPE."

For another thing...when He comes back to the EARTH later on, it wont be fascination that people feel, but fear. He will be coming to judge the earth, and if you didnt go up with the first load to meet YOUR Lord in the air....you will undoubtedly be very very sorry.

i don't think "facinated" is the right word for it. "Eager for" or "patiently waiting for" would be better.

We Christians wait for Christ to come again so that, if we are alive for it, we may have a new, holy body and live forever with Him. If we already have the blessing of heaven when the time comes, we will be reunited with our bodies and live with Him in our bodies. Those who do not believe that God sent Christ into the world 2000 years before and that Christ died for them and fulfilled the promise of eternal life in heaven will be judged by God. Because of their sins and unbelief, their sentence will be eternal punishment and agony in the everburning fires of hell. The believers of Christ will go to be with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in heaven forever and ever.

The second coming of Christ marks the beginning of forever punishment in hell for all unbelievers or eternal paradise in heaven for all believers.

All unbelievers should be afraid of the end of time on earth because they will be forever tormented in hell.

All believers in Christ will be glad because we will go to heaven, a place of no tears, pain, disease, or anything else caused by sin because heaven is a place of peace.

Jesus will be back the second time, to claim His kingdom, and He will resurrect those in Christ, and change them from mortal to immortal, they will rule with him, for a thousand years. After the thousand years will come the judgment, every one will be judged from the book . those who name is not in the book of life, will be put in the everlasting fire, to die.

He's gone from a priest king of Israel said to be the one who would overthrow Rome and failing (in his lifetime, at least) to superhero status.

Everyone wants to be saved.

Buddha and others have had the same thing happen to them. Islam hasn't done that, but they have a substitute Imam who will do it for him.

All silly. This is why we tend to kill the wisest of us. We build up silly expectations and myths around the last one, and judge all future one's by the same standard. If they become popular despite our best efforts to destroy them, we build the same myths around them.

Silly. There is a reason God doesn't normally manifest himself as he did to mankind. This is part of it.

Jesus will set up His Kingdom here, Satan will be locked up for a thousand years, and there will be peace.
This will be after He calls out His Church, and the righteous will be living in New Jerusalem.
