If someone you were in a relationship with had a treatable mental disorder, but did things that were annoying or offensive, but you knew they couldn't help it and didn't mean it, would you take it personally?

No. If you already know that this person is mentally challenged, you know why he/she behaves this way.

It is not personal; however, I would wonder why you were in this relationship. You claim that this person is annoying and offensive, these are your words; and then you are in a relationship with this person. You should own your words and get out of this relationship. I don't care what the mental disorder is, if you are unhappy, you need to find someone who makes you happy.

Depends on the disorder. And how controllable it can be with the treatments. If he/she is not seeking any help then yes I would take it personally, because there a friend and if there not gonna take care of them selves and do things to annoy me then there not trying to get better and that's not fair for me.

If the treatment is something that only calms the affects of the disorder then you might have to not take it so personal, and only give your support.

But on the other hand I don't have a lot of patience and not trying to be mean, but it would be better for myself not to have a relationship with some one who makes me want to pull my hair out every day.
