Ever heard of HR2640? No? Well, of course not. However, that won't stop it from being passed and signed by Bush within the next couple of months.

The bill, officially documented as HR2640, will limit anyone and everyone that has been said to have a mental disorder in gun ownership. Of course, when I say "limit," what I really mean is "cripple." This country and our freedoms were formed and based on a bloody hill of violence, death, and rebellion. You would have nothing but rice and a good whip gash if it weren't for a couple pieces of lead between the eyes of those who held power before.

For those too lazy or blind to research this bill for themselves, when passed it will disable anyone who has been diagnosed with any mental illness from being able to own, sell, or purchase a fire arm. (by the way, Bush has publicly stated that he's FOR this law) OH, and yes, this includes ADHD and ADD. Believe it? Research.

I'm proud of the few intelligent individuals here who see this as a bad thing.

ADD and ADHD can be militantly diagnosed by any registered physician in the state. All they need is your willing participation in diagnosis (physicals, doctor checkups, ANYTHING) and some of your readily available personal information (it IS publicized to no ends, after all)... and BOOM, no gun, no protection.

For those that don't care or "don't get it," maybe your attitude will change the second your every move is monitored for non-compliance. Maybe your mood will change when you go to an airport and they detain you for 3 hours because someone of similar skin color was said to have been a licensed gun owner. (Oh joy.) Maybe it'll change when you're stereotyped BY your very personality or look and receive illegal searches and visits from the cops (who will then find SOMETHING to ticket you for, as to make up for lost time.).

This bill is also against war vets. Anyone who fights in a war... No gun. Crazy.

Jesus Christ...

If there's ever an attack on US soil (and there will be, likely sooner than later), expect that martial law will be declared and 99% of the nay-sayers will regret their quite unintelligent decisions...

Guns are not dangerous; people are. This being said, let me point a few things out.

1: Take away guns, and the murderers and psychos will use knives.

2: Take away knives, and the murderers and psychos will use shovels.

3: Take away shovels, and the murderers and psychos will use pillows.

4: Take away pillows, and some of the people making the claims they do in this question topic will die from sleep deprivation because they're such idiotic sheep-*** *******.

And...

who needs a gun? who cares ??

you're paranoid - no one is "gonna get ya"

if these things come to pass, what will you do? walk around with a gun pointing it at every cop who gives you a funny look?
if someone asks to search you, you gonna shoot them?

i do understand what you are saying, and i agree with it. I just find it odd that we will all need guns in this current society.

If the world begins to end, I don't think law enforcement is gonna care who is allowed to have a gun or not.

i respect your opinion - you may be right

Child abuse is the biggest creator of violence people in this country. It is inevitable some will also have a mental illness. Ya think we could deal with the real problem instead. Heck no, it permeate the rich and powerful as well as middle America.

Anyone who knows anything about mental illness knows that the MI are one of the biggest recipients of violent acts, not the other way around.

Of course, it's always easy to pick on the powerless to make your political brownie points.

And... for those that think this is a good idea... depression effects 25% of the population at any given time. They're day will come, by-by gun.

A very recent news article reported that 90 out of 100 Americans owned a gun or two. If you consider that ownership of a gun for hunting is legal and OK in my book and children under the age of 18 don't normally own guns that means there are still 9 out of 10 people in the USA who own a gun. If they don't use it for killing animals (hunting) the only other reason for having it is to kill people. That is scary because it means we as a people have so little regard for and trust of one another.

With this many guns around it is easy to obtain a gun and no law is going to change things, The possession of a weapon is prima facie evidence that a person has the intent to use it to kill another and that to me is conspiracy to commit murder.

What needs to be changed is not laws about gun possession but the attitude of a society that tolerates the level of intent for violence and violence among its people as we do.

OMG WTF I have ADD and want to own a pistol to protect my own home from whoever the freak decides to come through my window at night!! Heaven forbid the terrorists come to my town, I'll go down with a fight dangit.

I understand some of where it's coming from, but MAN! Certain mental disorders don't make you CRAZY enough so you can't own a firearm! ADD is something I cope with via medication - therefore I am normal. and sometimes, I think if I go off the medication, I'll still be normal, as the word 'normal' is nothing but an average anyway!

Bush is full of crock if he thinks that this is a good bill. it may just be somebody with ADHD that saves us from the freaking terrorists! or some other mental dissorder - what then, Bush? where will you be in ten years? RETIRED. so STFU, butmunch.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention - I have no cable and internet only on the weekends. I appreciate this very much.

i take it that you don't watch the news.your argument of just war is correct.however that dosent tally with seemingly annual indiscriminate slaughter of peacable law abiding citizens by people with physiological problems, and that is not taking into account people who shoot themselves whilst depressed.its only common sense.i would suggest all who have firearm certificates undergo periodic aptitude tests to ensure their fitness to hold such certificates, mainly for their own safety,as well as the general public
