OK, first of all, 99% of skin irritations on dogs is due to their diet. Again 99%!!!! That is a proven fact. To give her relief, try giving her a bath in a natural oatmeal shampoo, or look in the pet store for a shampoo called MEDI-CLEAN. It's made by a company called Lambert Kay. It's a thick shampoo that can be diluted if necessary, but i recommend using it full strength and leaving it on the dog for at least 10 minutes, but 20 is better. Try to keep the dog from licking the infected area as much as possible. Have a groomer shave around the area as well to keep it cleaner. Start feeding a better diet. Try a dogs natural diet which is a raw diet full of fruits and veggies. Evo dog food is an excellent replacement of feeding raw meat and veggies. It's expensive, but a lot cheaper than an on going vet bill will be. It's a food that's all natural/preservative free and as close to a dogs natural diet that you can get and is grain free. It's usually the grain in dog food that causes skin allergies. Ask your local groomer to use a medicated shampoo on the dog and have the area cleaned up real well, then wash the dog at home (if possible) 2 times a week with the medi clean shampoo along with feeding it Evo and your dogs suffering will stop. I've been grooming for over 20 years, and with all the products and medications available to me, the advice I've given you works the best. The only reason you should see the vet is if the hot spots are so bad that they are oozing and bleeding. Then she may need an antibiotic. You can order this on line at pet meds.com. All meds for sale on the sight are available for any one to buy, not just vets. They give a complete discription for each and their uses. I recommend amoxicillin. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic and will clear the problem and is cheaper then othe meds. The vet will pump the dog full of steroids to clear the problem up when all your dog needs is the medi clean shampoo, Evo dog food and regular baths for a few weeks. It will clear the problem up and the shampoo will provide immediate relief. If your dog has fleas, that could be causing the irritation as well. Some dogs are really allergic to fleas and 1 bite can make them rip their skin apart. The medi clean will kill any fleas on the dog if left on for at least 15 minutes. After the hot spots clear, use frontline to prevent any further break outs. Good luck

There's a good chance the rash and hot spots are caused by an allergy of some kind. It could be a dog food allergy, a flea allergy, or even a contact or inhalant allergy.

Your veterinarian should take a look at her, he can also do blood or skin allergy tests if he thinks it's necessary. He also needs to see her, so that he can determine if there's another physical problem causing the rash, that needs treatment.

If it is an allergy it's fairly straightforward to determine the trigger, but it can take a little while. Meantime there are plenty of products that can relieve the itching and discomfort. Traditional prescription medications can be given by your veterinarian if he thinks it's necessary, but there are many OTC and natural/herbal type products that are very helpful.

A huge number of puppies and dogs suffer from allergies, and these allergies almost always result in skin problems. You can find out much more about dog allergies at http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-allergies.html .

There's also lots of info. on how to help relieve your dogs itching etc. at the url below. Best of luck with her!

You need to take her to a vet to be seen so they can determine exactly what is causing the rash. It could be an allergy, a fungal infection or even ringworm. She is probably miserable with the itching. If you don't have her seen, it could spread and cause her to have more problems. Treat her now so she will be comfortable before she has complications which will prove to be more costly moneywise and healthwise. Hope she feels better soon.

you can go to the vet and they can give u some bategen spray or even some antibiotic. or you can try some goldbond powder. but if its a continuous thing you should try to feed her some hypoallergenic food. you DONT want to feed just any type of raw fruits and veggies. grapes for one can be dangerous so if you decide to do that do some research. a good food would be hills z/d its only sold at vets but it works great they even have treats that go with it. and if its a flea problem i wouldn't use frontline. it does kill them but it takes a long time and it only kills it doesn't repel them from getting on them. but advantage or advantage multi are great products. they will kill the fleas in 3-5 mins from when you put it on, and the advantage multi does heartworms, hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, fleas, and ear mites. so you can save from having to buy 2 or more products and it comes out cheaper and easier to maintain. you can buy them online at petmeds.com but they cant guarrentee the product but at a vet they can return it if there are any problems

First go to the vet to rule out an allergy. Benedrle does help but ask your vet first. Wheat is alot of dogs become allergic too. Did you do something to your carpet like a cleaner or something? Did you have your lawn treated, has your dog gone swimming somewhere? Last but not least does she have fleas, and if so what have you treated he with?

buy a small green can of "Bag Balm" available at most drug stores. Works wonders. For people and pets too.
