I had some coke once from Family Dollar and it just didn't seem to taste the same, also the Family Dollar brand cheese puffs made me sick in the stomach.

I haven't noticed any differences in the quality of products in the dollar stores I shop in. If you get a "Coke" or any other brand name product, it is exactly the same as the same brand name product in a regular store. Remember this, Coke and Pepsi and Lipton green tea etc. are made the same but made in several places across the USA. The water in Atlanta may taste slightly different than the water they have in Minnesota, for example so the end product will taste a little differently according to where it is bottled. (Not because of the store you got it at.)
As for the generic cheesy poofs, if you check the ingredients, and the name brand stuff is the same as the generic brand, it should taste the same. Trust me, I work as an electrician and I have worked in a few manufacturing plants. From tater chips to dog food, I have seen hoppers full of food filling up name brand packages and when they get an order filled, they go get dollar store or "equate" packages and fill the bags from the same hopper.
As for your tummy ache, check what kind of oil was used to cook the puffs with. If it was something you don't usually cook with yourself, like hydrogenated cottonseed oil or something, that may have been the problem, not the store where you bought the food.

Some foods are manufactured especially for Dollar Stores like the deli meats. Some of the fresh veggies and fruits are a little past prime but still delicious and are such a good deal!

The name brand products, such as Coke, are exactly the same. The products end up in dollar stores as they are nearing their expiration date, they weren't selling at regular retail, or some distributor is overstocked.

The Dollar stores I've been in, when I've checked the dates on packages of foods or cans of foods, they are all past the dates shown on them. I'm assuming that's why they are in the Dollar store in the first place.
