Ok. I'm about to open a can of worms here, so ladies (as well as whipped men), feel free to complain and moan at me all you want! heh heh.

Guys, haven't you noticed that the majority of wrecks you see are caused by or involved with women? I can never understand how they can get lower insurance rates but be the cause of the majority of wrecks, especially the teenage girls. Plus most of them drive like they don't have a care in the world. Any thoughts?

Ladies, you can call me sexist all you want, but the question still stands.

heh heh. I knew I would piss off a few ppl. Hmm, the majority of answers state it's because of statistics. Reality check people: statistics don't mean squat! Know why it shows more women are safe drivers? Because us guys report claims more than women, so the numbers seem less. Here's my opinon: The reality is that if insurance was higher then men's, or even as much as men's, women would scream about discrimination like they do everything else. There's my two cents, take it or leave it.

All insurance rates are gathered by actuaries. They gather thier information from actual accidents & then plot trends. Unfortunately, men are statisctically in more accidents, and much more costly accidents. However, females are slowly catching up due to the rise of cell phones.

It isn't cheaper for women. Now from the age of whenever the license is issued to the age of 25, statistically males have more accidents and tickets, so they pay a premium for insurance because of the statistics. After 25 it levels out.

Now, I've been in business running a towing service for 10 years, and for most of that time I was one of two companies, so I'm assuming I've seen half the wrecks in this area. Of those, the majority of them involving people under the age of 25 that led to severe injury or a car been so damaged it was never driven again were male drivers. Actually the same thing seems to apply in all age groups, male drivers for the most part.

Yeah, uh, unfortunately for you, you're not observant enough, because women statistically have fewer accidents than men do. If they were the cause of the majority of wrecks, car insurance would be more expensive for women. Car insurance companies aren't out there to coddle women, they're out there to make money--not lose it.

Duh.

Car insurance is cheaper for women because statistically, women have fewer and less costly accidents. Less risk to the insurance company means lower premiums. Women also statistically get fewer moving violations.

Statistically, women don't get in as many accidents. Which is why their insurance is cheaper.

Maybe you just have out of the norm personal experience.
